The former President needs plenty of allies on his side if he’s to win in 2024. But lately, that’s been easier said than done.
And a top Republican made this major decision that sent Donald Trump into a fit of rage.
Fani Willis, the district attorney for Fulton County, has been the latest thorn in Trump’s side.
She launched a 41-count indictment against him for allegedly attempting to overthrow the 2020 presidential election.
Many Republicans including Trump himself, believe Willis and other Democrats are targeting him as part of a political witch-hunt.
This has caused calls for an investigation into the District Attorney.
“As a Georgia State Senator, I am officially calling for an emergency session to review the actions of Fani Willis” said Georgia State Senator, Colton Moore (R).
“America is under attack. I’m not going to sit back and watch as radical left prosecutors weaponize their elected offices to politically target their opponents.”
Unsurprisingly, Donald Trump was pleased with Moore’s potential investigation of Willis.
“Highly respected Georgia State Senator Colton Moore deserves the thanks & congratulations of everyone for having the courage & conviction to fight the Radical Left Lunatics who are so badly hurting the Great State of Georgia, & the USA itself,” the former President said in a post on social media.
But not every Republican was thrilled with Moore’s plans.
Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp believes that the investigation is not a good idea and would, “ignore current Georgia law and directly interfere with the proceedings of a separate but equal branch of government.”
“The bottom line is that in the state of Georgia, as long as I’m governor, we’re going to follow the law and the Constitution regardless of who it helps or harms politically” the Governor added.
“And in Georgia, we will not be engaging in political theater that only inflames the emotions of the moment.”
Gov. Brian Kemp rejects the idea of calling a special session to oust Fani Willis, and criticizes Trump and his allies for pushing it:

State Senator Moore was quick to fire back at the Governor.
“Governor Brian Kemp is not being honest with the people of Georgia. He is allowing his disdain for President Trump to cloud his judgment. Specifically, Section 2, paragraph 7…which outlines his clear power to call an emergency session.”
“When are you going to stand with the people of Georgia and convene the emergency session that your constituents are demanding?”
Donald Trump must carry the state of Georgia if he is to be reelected in 2024.
But with new tensions arising between him and and Governor Kemp, that state only becomes harder to win.
