Legislators are supposed to lead by example. But it’s probably best that no one follows in the footsteps of this Leftist.
And a Democrat senator was sent to jail for this hideous crime.
On Monday, the unthinkable happened after a Democrat legislator was arrested for alleged first-degree burglary.
Nicole Mitchell, a state senator for Minnesota, was arrested by police after being suspected of intruding on the home of an individual in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, according to local news outlet KVRR.
Detroit Lakes is located 220 miles northwest of the area in Minnesota in which Mitchell represents.
Online records show that Mitchell was processed in the Becker County Jail.
Todd Glander, the Becker County Sheriff, explained to the New York Post that a criminal complaint would likely be filed against Mitchell as of Tuesday.
The Minnesota Senate Democratic-Farmer-Labor-Party was not very vocal about the incident but ended up producing a statement which detailed how the party was “aware of the situation and has no comment pending further information.”
Minnesota’s Senate has 67 members but Democrats have just a small majority of that with a 34-33 advantage.
Obviously, that majority is in jeopardy now with Mitchell’s arrest.
“The public expects Legislators to meet a high standard of conduct. As information comes out, we expect the consequences to meet the actions, both in the court of law, and in her role at the legislature,” Minnesota State Senator Mark Johnson said in a statement.
Mitchell, who was previously a meteorologist on TV and radio, as well as an Air National Guard commander, was elected in 2022.
She’s worked in the past on policies that have to do with helping veterans, addressing climate change, and child protection.
Mitchell joins Pennsylvania State Rep. Kevin Boyle (D) as another state Democrat who’s recently been in trouble with the police for committing crimes. Boyle allegedly violated a restraining order which led to a warrant for his arrest.
It’s a sad state of affairs in politics in this country when multiple legislators are having criminal issues.
These are the people who should be helping to lead the country by setting a good example.
Instead, they’re behaving with immaturity and not thinking about the consequences of their actions.
And now Mitchell could have very well hurt her party in Minnesota by potentially losing her seat and letting a Republican swoop in and take it.
That would in turn give the GOP a much-needed majority in a dark blue state.
