The 2028 election is still over three years away. But the president is making sure the Republican Party is well prepared.

And Donald Trump announces the 2028 GOP presidential nominee in a shocking move.

President Donald Trump created excitement about the future of the Republican Party on Tuesday, suggesting that Vice President JD Vance is “most likely” to emerge as the party’s presidential nominee in 2028. The comment came after Trump signed a fresh batch of executive orders, prompting questions about the next election cycle.

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy seized the moment to ask Trump about the 2028 race, referencing the president’s earlier statement that he would “probably not” seek a third term. Doocy pointed to recent praise from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who called Vance a strong contender.

“This weekend, Secretary of State [Marco] Rubio said that he thought JD Vance would be a great nominee,” Doocy stated. “You could clear the entire Republican field right now. Do you agree that the heir-apparent to MAGA is JD Vance?”

Trump responded with a nod to Vance’s growing influence, saying, “Well, I think most likely, in all fairness. He’s the vice president. I think Marco is also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form.”

While stopping short of a full commitment, Trump praised Vance’s work, noting, “I also think we have incredible people, some of the people on the stage right here, so it’s too early obviously to talk about it. But certainly, [Vance] is doing a great job, and he would be probably favored at this point.”

Flanking Trump were Vance, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, all key figures in the administration.

The momentum behind Vance was further fueled last week when Rubio, speaking with Fox News host Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law, voiced strong support for the vice president. “Well, I think JD Vance would be a great nominee,” Rubio stated.

“And if you know, I think if he decides he wants to do that. And so, you know, and I think he’s doing a great job as vice president. He’s a close friend. And I hope he intends to do it.”

Rubio also reaffirmed his dedication to his current role, saying he hopes to serve as Secretary of State “as long as the president allows me to do it … which would keep me here all the way through January of 2028.”

With the 2028 Republican primary on the horizon—the first without Trump as a candidate since 2012—several administration figures are eyeing the spotlight. Yet, Vance’s rising prominence has made him a standout in the party’s evolving landscape.

The Meteoric Rise of JD Vance

JD Vance’s journey from author to political powerhouse has captivated the Republican Party. His memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, struck a chord with millions, offering a raw look at the struggles of working-class America.

This authenticity propelled him to a U.S. Senate seat in Ohio in 2022, where he championed policies resonating with Trump’s base while carving out his own identity.

As vice president, Vance has exceeded expectations, earning accolades for his sharp policy instincts and ability to connect with voters.

Vance’s role in shaping the administration’s messaging has also been a game-changer. Whether rallying crowds or defending policies on national stages, he navigates political challenges with ease, earning trust as a loyal ally to Trump.

His youth, combined with his intellectual heft, positions him as a bridge between the party’s past and future. As 2028 approaches, Vance’s star continues to rise, with many Republicans seeing him as the natural choice to lead the party forward.
