Trump hasn’t won the election yet. But that isn’t stopping him from planning a future term in the White House.
And Donald Trump has announced a new plan that has the Washington, D.C. Swamp losing their minds.
In a campaign promise aimed at tackling economic challenges, former President Donald Trump announced on Thursday his plan to establish a new Cabinet-level position focused solely on reducing the cost of living if he wins a second term.
Speaking at a rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Trump described this as a “new step” to deliver “emergency price relief to all Americans” with Election Day just days away.
“I will create a new Cabinet position for a senior member of my administration who will be tasked exclusively with doing everything in the federal government’s power to reduce the cost of living,” Trump declared to his supporters.
He further promised that, on “day one,” he would sign an executive order directing all federal agencies to “immediately remove every single burdensome regulation driving up the cost of goods.”
The announcement comes as the economy continues to be a top concern for voters.
Inflation and rising grocery prices have become significant worries for Americans across the country, making economic relief a central theme in this year’s election.
Trump’s Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, has also addressed high costs, promising to tackle price gouging in the food and grocery sectors.
She vowed in August that she would “take on the high costs that matter most to most Americans.”
Another figure in this conversation, tech mogul Elon Musk, has hinted at a potential role in a second Trump administration.
Musk, the owner of X and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has suggested he could assist Trump in ensuring that taxpayer funds are spent more efficiently by the federal government.
Trump recently told Fox News that Musk was interested in taking on the role of “secretary of cost-cutting,” though not in an official Cabinet capacity due to his other business commitments.
“He wants to be in charge of cost-cutting,” Trump explained.
“We’ll have a new position, secretary of cost-cutting, okay? Elon wants to do that. He’s running a big business. He can’t just say, I think I’ll go into the Cabinet. Other people can, he can’t.”
Earlier this week, Trump also shared his plans to address public safety and crime.
At a press event at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, he proposed a strategy to seize assets from drug cartels and criminal organizations, redirecting those funds into a compensation program for victims of migrant-related crime.
This plan by Trump and his team is exactly what the D.C. Swamp hates.
They want the federal government to be a big machine that spends taxpayer dollars recklessly. And they know that Donald Trump is the one who can realistically shut that down if he becomes president.
