Mr. Trump promised to get to work before being inaugurated. He wasn’t joking.

Because Donald Trump just scored a huge win before even stepping into office.

Military Retention on the Rise After Trump’s Nomination of Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense

Senator Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) recently discussed a growing trend of military re-enlistments in response to President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Pete Hegseth as the next Secretary of Defense. Speaking on ABC News’ *This Week* with Jonathan Karl, Hagerty revealed that many service members are choosing to stay in the Armed Forces rather than retire or leave, largely due to the leadership qualities Hegseth is seen to bring to the Pentagon.

Hagerty shared a conversation he had with Hegseth earlier this week, during which the former Fox News personality and military veteran described a surge of messages from troops expressing renewed commitment to their service. “Pete is a very talented individual,” Hagerty said. “I talked with him earlier this week. He told me about how many people had written to him and said, look, I was thinking about getting out. You know we have a huge recruitment problem, a huge retention problem in the military. I was thinking about getting out, but now that you’ve come to lead us, Pete, I’m going to stay in.”

Hagerty emphasized that this shift reflects a broader mood change within the military from a sense of despair to one of optimism. According to Hagerty, the nomination of Hegseth, who is viewed as a strong, inspirational leader, is reigniting morale within the ranks.

“That’s the type of inspirational leader we need to see,” Hagerty said. “Don’t let these allegations distract us. What we need is real, significant change. The Pentagon has been more focused on pronouns than they have lethality the past four years. We need to get back to business, and I think Pete is just the person to do it.”

Hagerty’s comments echo a sentiment many see as vital for the future of the U.S. military: a return to a focus on military readiness and effectiveness, rather than political distractions. Drawing on the words of President Theodore Roosevelt, Hagerty concluded with a call for decisive leadership. As a famous U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt shared in wisdom with us all once, “Speak softly and carry a big stick.”

The rising trend of military re-enlistments, spurred by Hegseth’s nomination, signals a potential shift in the Pentagon’s culture, with many hopeful that under his leadership, the Armed Forces will regain the focus and discipline needed to address pressing challenges.

One of the points of emphasis that Donald Trump made on the campaign trail that went unnoticed by many throughout the media was his promise to strengthen the United States military and make it a force to be reckoned with again. Simply put, most Americans believe that under the Biden administration the military has been weakened more than at any point in American history.

In October, Donald Trump shared online a hilarious video comparing the differences between a Trump-led military and a Biden-led military, with the Trump leadership being characterized by discipline and hard work. Meanhwile, the Biden leadership is characterized by “woke” social justice experiments and transgender military parades.

The reality is that this resonates with a ton of Americans, and so it makes sense that Donald Trump winning and surrounding himself with a strong cabinet is going to entice young men and women to enlist. No one wants to have a weak commander-in-chief as your boss, and unfortunately that showed in enlisting numbers during the Biden administration.

The American people have made their voices extremely clear. On this issue, the social justice experiments and culture war nonsense needs to be left at the door. The military does not need to be concerning itself with “DEI” and “fairness”.
