The Trump campaign hasn’t been incredibly open on who the former president’s next running mate will be. But now we may finally have an answer.
As Donald Trump has provided a massive VP update involving this former GOP rival.
On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump hosted a rally in Wisconsin.
Before Trump made his remarks at the event, former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy got up on stage and made some remarks himself.
He claimed that “Donald Trump is the George Washington of our day.”
Once Trump got on stage, he wasn’t shy in praising Ramaswamy for his political prowess.
When speaking about the tariff negotiations his administration had with French President Emmanuel Macron, Donald Trump said, “If I gave it to Vivek to do, he’d pull it off.”
“He’s gonna be with us in some form,” the former president said, referencing Ramaswamy’s potential role in a second Trump administration.
There are supporters of Trump who would be more than pleased to have Vivek Ramaswamy as Trump’s running mate this year.
Ramaswamy’s anti-establishment attitude, plus his ability to adopt several of Donald Trump’s political tactics as well as policy proposals, has made him rather popular among the Trump voter base.
After the Iowa caucuses in January, Ramaswamy ended up dropping out of the race and immediately offered his full endorsement of Trump.
He was also one of the few GOP presidential candidates who had little to no criticism of the former president during the Republican primary process.
Other candidates like former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) and former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ), were widely ridiculed by Trump supporters for their criticism and attacks on the former president.
But despite Donald Trump’s comments about Ramaswamy on Tuesday, it’s still unknown if he’s actually a serious candidate to be Trump’s running mate or not.
He could very well be an adviser of some sort or even have a cabinet position.
The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in July is when Trump is expected to officially announce his VP pick.
Names that are rumored to be considered by the Trump camp include Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).
But as for now, it seems as though Donald Trump is perfectly happy with keeping his supporters mostly in the dark with who he plans to pick as his next running mate.
At this point, we can only make speculation based off the few hints the former president and his campaign team have given us.
