Trump’s reelection momentum is surging. But this latest news could cause it to completely skyrocket.
As Donald Trump’s team delivered a debate announcement that caused the Biden campaign to drop to their knees.
In a bold move, former President Donald Trump’s campaign team took a jab at President Joe Biden, speculating that he might withdraw from the presidential race entirely.
They argued it was “unfair” to commit to a vice presidential debate when the Democratic candidate remained uncertain.
On Wednesday afternoon, Wall Street Journal White House reporter Ken Thomas broke the news on X that CBS had scheduled a potential debate between current Vice President Kamala Harris and Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-OH).
“Biden-Harris campaign official says VP Harris has accepted a date of Mon Aug. 12th for the CBS VP debate with JD Vance,” Thomas posted.

Following the announcement, the Trump campaign swiftly responded: “We don’t know who the Democrat nominee for Vice President is going to be, so we can’t lock in a date before their convention. To do so would be unfair to Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, or whoever Kamala Harris picks as her running mate.”

Calls for Biden to step down have been growing, especially after his stumbling performance in the June 27 debate with Trump.
This sentiment has only intensified with a series of gaffe-filled interviews, leading nearly two-thirds of Democrats to support replacing Biden on the presidential ticket, according to a recent AP-NORC poll.
Notable figures like actor George Clooney, who recently hosted a fundraiser for Biden, wrote an op-ed urging the president to step aside.
Even Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) called for Biden to withdraw on Wednesday.
Despite the mounting pressure, Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity that he believes Biden might stay in the race.
“[He] may very well stay, and he’s got an ego, and he doesn’t want to quit. … He’s going to feel badly about himself for a long time. It’s hard to give it up that way, the way where they’re trying to force him out,” the former president said.
Biden has consistently stated his intention to stay in the race but did acknowledge during a recent BET interview that he might consider stepping down “if I had some medical condition that emerged.”
Soon after the interview aired, the White House confirmed that Biden had once again tested positive for COVID.
As of the writing of this article, there continue to be more efforts by Democratic leaders to try and convince Biden to step down as the Democratic nominee.
So far those efforts have not been successful, but as more polls come out that show Trump leading the president in many crucial swing states, Democrats will increase their sense of urgency when trying to push for Joe Biden to drop out.
