Newsom acts like an evil mastermind at times. That’s bad news for the country.
And Gavin Newsom revealed a disturbing Democrat scheme that will have Republicans panicking.
California Governor Gavin Newsom is pulling out all the stops to protect his party’s grip on power.
In a stunning admission during a recent budget press conference, the Democrat leader revealed plans for emergency measures to keep his fellow party members from getting shut out of the upcoming gubernatorial contest, per Politico.
Newsom floated the idea of a “break the glass scenario” to guarantee Democrat candidates advance past the primary.
“The top-two vote getters regardless of party go on to the general election,” according to Politico. This setup has Democrats sweating as Republican challengers could make a push in the polls.
When pressed by a reporter about accountability and the possibility of two Republicans claiming the top spots, Newsom made his priorities crystal clear.
“My focus has been making sure that doesn’t happen,” he stated. He admitted to taking concrete actions to steer the race away from that outcome while insisting he doesn’t expect it to materialize.
The governor didn’t stop there. “We all have agencies. We can shape the future. There’s still a lot, look, I’ve said this before, so I’ll repeat it. I don’t anticipate this need to be the case, but there is a break-the-glass scenario,” Newsom said.
“There’s many people that have a deep understanding of what it would [be] like if Democrats were locked out, and we’re going to do everything to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
This frantic maneuvering exposes deep anxiety in Sacramento. After years of one-party Democrat dominance, the state’s problems have piled up: sky-high taxes, rampant homelessness, failing schools, and businesses fleeing to red states.
Regular Californians are paying the price while elites like Newsom plot ways to cling to control.
A fresh Emerson College Polling/Inside California Politics survey shows just how vulnerable the Democrat machine has become. The poll of likely primary voters, conducted May 9-10, puts former Biden HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra at 19 percent.
Close behind are Republican Steve Hilton at 17 percent and Democrat Tom Steyer also at 17 percent.
Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco (R) sits at 11 percent, with former Rep. Katie Porter (D) at 10 percent.
These numbers should terrify the coastal ruling class. A strong showing by conservative candidates like Hilton or Bianco could finally crack the Sacramento monopoly.
Voters appear ready to reject the same failed policies that turned the Golden State into a cautionary tale of progressive governance.
Newsom’s contingency talk reeks of establishment desperation. Instead of addressing the real struggles of working families crushed by inflation and crime, he’s focused on rigging the game to favor his side.
