Newsom’s future isn’t looking bright. He may want to be in the White House, but it doesn’t look like it’s ever going to happen.
And now Gavin Newsom was smacked upside the head by the last person he expected.
Minaj’s Scathing Podcast Interview
In a candid appearance on “The Katie Miller Podcast,” which aired Tuesday, February 3, rapper Nicki Minaj did not hold back in her criticism of the California governor. She repeatedly slammed Newsom for what she sees as an obsessive focus on Trump and a misguided attempt to copy his social media style.
Minaj stated: “With Newscum, it’s the fact that with everything you said, but then having the audacity to be playing on Twitter, obsessed with Trump, trying to be Trump, trying to be funny when it’s not, and then wanting to roll around in the mud with female rappers or whomever and completely missing the plot.”
She went further, mocking Newsom’s apparent presidential aspirations and contrasting them with Trump’s proven record: “But President Trump is already the president, get it? He’s already done it twice. He’s won. Good. OK. Meanwhile, you are embarking on what – a journey that will end up being a big huge failure for him.”
Criticism of Newsom’s Policy Stance and Loyalty
Minaj singled out Newsom’s vocal support for transgender issues involving children, framing it as a political liability that alienates everyday voters.
She declared: “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav. The Gav Nots. GavOUT. Send in the next guy, I’m bored.”
She also questioned Newsom’s loyalty to the country after he made critical remarks about the United States and its leadership during an appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Minaj argued: “no one cares” about Newsom’s rhetoric online, “and he’s making a fool out of himself like when he went all the way to another country to speak ill of the country and the president. We would never want someone like that to be our president. Americans are so big on loyalty and that just showed us all you do not have a loyal bone in your body and no one is going to vote for you.”
Adding a personal angle, Minaj claimed Newsom ignored her public requests for assistance on Twitter regarding repeated swatting incidents she linked to a smear campaign against her.
Broader Context and Newsom’s Response
The feud traces back to earlier social media clashes, including Newsom posting a mashup video of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein set to Meghan Thee Stallion’s diss track “HISS” in response to one of Minaj’s attacks. Minaj fired back at the time, saying: “I had to. I had to show him who’s boss on Twitter.”
She also took aim at Newsom’s communications team, noting: “the governor still doesn’t ‘seem to grasp the fact that these jokes that you’re making are only funny to your assistant, you know, the weirdo little guy that calls Black women stupid h–s and stuff.’”
While Newsom has defended free speech and criticized the Trump administration in the past—once stating that “freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, freedom of speech” are under attack and that “They’re censoring historical facts, they’re rewriting history”—he has not directly addressed Minaj’s latest remarks. The rapper’s pointed critique underscores a growing sentiment that Newsom’s brand of progressive leadership, combined with his high-profile jabs at Trump, may be costing him broader appeal as he eyes higher office.
