Vance has officially been announced as Trump’s running mate. But the gloves have already come off from the Biden administration.
As J.D. Vance has received a disturbing phone call from Vice President Harris.
Vice President Kamala Harris is well-known for her word salads.
She can’t seem to make public remarks without uttering a bunch of sentences that don’t actually mean anything.
Yet Harris and her fellow Democrats now feel like she’s ready to take on Donald Trump’s running mate in a debate.
VP Harris Calls Vance to Finalize Debate Plans
Kamala Harris has swiftly agreed to debate Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), just hours after the Ohio senator was chosen as former President Donald Trump’s running mate and nominated as the Republican vice presidential candidate during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Harris reached out to Vance shortly after Trump announced his selection, but the two did not speak directly.
Instead, Harris left a message to “congratulate him on his selection, welcome him to the race, and express her hope that the two can meet” in the debate.
Earlier this year, Harris and the Biden campaign had already accepted a vice presidential debate hosted by CBS News, which is expected to occur later in the summer.
Several Democratic lawmakers closely aligned with the Biden campaign have expressed confidence in Harris’s ability to battle Vance on the debate stage.
They highlighted the vice president’s extensive experience in both the Senate and the White House as she gears up to debate policy.
“The VP will take it to J.D. Vance,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) told reporters during a campaign call shortly after Vance’s nomination was announced. “I’m looking forward to this debate.”
While Vance has not yet publicly accepted the invitation to debate Harris, he hinted in a May interview with the Washington Examiner that he would be willing to meet with her.
“You know, I’ll do whatever I need to to serve, but I’m very nervous about debating the vice president,” Vance said sarcastically. “She’s very eloquent.”
Republicans have been quick to praise Trump’s decision to choose Vance as his running mate, celebrating the junior senator from Ohio as a promising step towards the future of the party.
Several RNC delegates at the convention hailed Vance as a symbol of a “new generation of leadership for the Republican Party.” One Republican consultant noted that Vance, as the “heir apparent,” would strengthen the GOP presidential ticket in 2028.
Meanwhile, Harris faces challenges within her own party as Democratic lawmakers debate whether President Joe Biden should remain on the ticket. Harris’s average approval rating of 38.5% could pose a risk if she goes head-to-head against Vance.
As the political landscape heats up, the anticipated debate between Harris and Vance promises to be a defining moment in the upcoming election season.
