Biden has been hiding for a while. But now all doubts have been removed.
Because Joe Biden made a sudden public appearance that proved he’s completely lost it.
Biden Struggles at National Bar Association Gala
On Thursday, August 1, 2025, former President Joe Biden delivered remarks at the 100th annual awards gala of the National Bar Association in Chicago, the oldest and largest network of predominantly Black lawyers and judges in the U.S.
The 82-year-old, visibly frail and battling advanced prostate cancer, appeared disoriented and slurred his words during a 20-minute speech, as seen in event footage.
Accompanied by two granddaughters, Biden received a standing ovation but needed assistance to find his seat, briefly flashing finger guns at the crowd after sitting.
His performance, marked by stumbles over words, reflects ongoing concerns about his health since he withdrew from a second presidential bid in January 2025, following a diagnosis of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones in May.
Speech Highlights Civil Rights and Trump Critique
Biden’s remarks accused the Trump administration of waging an “existential” fight against minority communities, while emphasizing his own civil rights record.
“These are dark days, but you’re all here for the same reason I left that prestigious law firm to go to the defender’s office years ago,” he said.
“It’s because our future is literally on the line and we must be unapologetic of fighting for the future.”
He lightened the mood with a quip about his age, noting, “When I was elected [in 1972], I had the dubious distinction to be elected the youngest senator in American history and the oldest president in American history. It’s hell turning 40 twice,” which drew chuckles.
Award and Notable Attendees
Biden was honored with the National Bar Association’s C. Francis Stradford Award, the organization’s highest accolade, recognizing his contributions to justice and equality.
The gala featured prominent speakers, including Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, former MSNBC pundit Joy-Ann Reid, and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Biden’s rare public appearance, following Vice President Kamala Harris’s landslide defeat to President Trump in the 2024 election, highlighted his enduring influence within certain circles despite his health struggles and reduced public role.
