The president is full-on panicking. He needs the help of this organization if he wants any chance of winning reelection.
And Joe Biden may never recover after losing the support of this major Leftist news outlet.
As president, Joe Biden has offered rather scarce media availability to many media organizations.
This could very well be an effort from the White House to try and keep him away from the press in order to limit the amount of gaffes he’s liable to make.
At 81 years old, President Biden’s mental acuity has been questioned as he almost always makes multiple errors when speaking in front of a camera, in front of crowds, or in front of reporters.
But The New York Times (NYT) has had enough of Biden hiding from the media, and decided to call him out on it.
“For anyone who understands the role of the free press in a democracy, it should be troubling that President Biden has so actively and effectively avoided questions from independent journalists during his term,” the NYT said in a statement.
“The president occupies the most important office in our nation, and the press plays a vital role in providing insights into his thinking and worldview, allowing the public to assess his record and hold him to account.”
When the NYT, which has Leftist bias, is calling out Biden, then you know there’s a problem.
“Mr. Biden has granted far fewer press conferences and sit-down interviews with independent journalists than virtually all of his predecessors. It is true that The Times has sought an on-the-record interview with Mr. Biden, as it has done with all presidents going back more than a century,” the NYT’s statement continued.
“If the president chooses not to sit down with The Times because he dislikes our independent coverage, that is his right, and we will continue to cover him fully and fairly either way.”
If Joe Biden really claims that his record has been so good as president, then why wouldn’t he agree to do more press conferences and interviews?
It’s almost like he’s too scared or doesn’t actually believe he can defend his policy decisions.
But as for the NYT, those close to Biden feel as though the news outlet is “arrogant” and hasn’t properly given Biden “his due.”
“We do not comment on the specifics of our private discussions with reporters and editors. As a White House that believes deeply in the role of the free press in American Democracy, we would note that a mutually honest, fact-based, respectful back-and-forth is a cornerstone of any healthy relationship between a media outlet and an administration,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said to Fox News Digital.
“We have that kind of dialogue with The New York Times and many other media organizations.”
Elisabeth Bumiller, the Washington bureau chief for the NYT, told Politico that it’s perfectly reasonable for the newspaper to stand for “liberal democracy” while also offering critiques of the Biden administration.
“You can be a force for democracy, liberal democracy. You don’t have to be a force for the Biden White House,” she said.
It’s almost like Joe Biden and his staff want him to receive a glowing review anytime he’s written about or mentioned in the press.
But that’s not always going to happen.
And it won’t happen very often since Biden’s tenure as commander-in-chief has been so abysmal, even Leftist news outlets can’t ignore reporting on how negative it’s been.
