“I’ve said to people, the one person who was responsible for the impeachments of Donald Trump is Donald Trump,” Pelosi declared during her recent appearance on ABC News’ “This Week.”
She went on to emphasize that impeachment isn’t a casual decision, but rather a response to alleged constitutional breaches. “It’s not something you decide to do. It’s what violation of the Constitution he engages in. So that’s not somethin’ you say, ‘Oh, we’re gonna impeach him,’” she added, as if her party hasn’t been salivating over the idea since day one.
Despite this supposed caution, rogue elements within the Democratic ranks have already jumped the gun. Lawmakers like Reps. Shri Thanedar from Michigan and Al Green from Texas have filed impeachment articles, only to be reined in by party bosses.
Trump’s supporters and GOP insiders aren’t buying the act. They’ve been sounding the alarm that if Democrats flip the House in 2026—a prospect that’s looking increasingly likely—they’ll unleash a third impeachment circus, turning Congress into a nonstop anti-Trump witch hunt.
President Trump, no stranger to these partisan attacks, is laser-focused on dodging that bullet. But the threats don’t stop at impeachment; a Democrat-led House would seize control of key committees, launching endless probes into his administration and even his family.
“Right now, the Republicans and the Congress have abolished the Congress. They just do what the president insists that they do. That will be over,” Pelosi stated.
She doubled down on the investigative firepower Democrats would wield. “You can have the power of subpoena to get information from these agencies of government who are not supplying any information,” Pelosi stressed.
As she bows out of Congress after announcing her retirement last month, Pelosi is placing her bets on House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries from New York to snatch the speaker’s gavel in January 2027.
She’s got zero doubts about it, setting him up as the next anti-Trump crusader.
If Jeffries does take the reins, he’ll step into Pelosi’s shoes as the top Democratic thorn in Trump’s side, just like she was during his first go-around in the White House. It’s a handover of the resistance baton, plain and simple.
Pelosi couldn’t resist reminiscing about her glory days battling Trump, including that infamous moment when she shredded his State of the Union address right on camera in 2020. It was pure spectacle, and she knows it fired up her base.
“People like the tearing up of the speech,” she said.
But she claims it wasn’t premeditated. “I didn’t intend to go to the speech to tear it up,” Pelosi insisted.
“I tore a page because it was lying. And then the next page, and then the next page,” she explained, justifying her tantrum as a truth-seeking mission. “Now, the speeches are on strong paper there. So you have to do it a few times to get it done.”
This whole interview reeks of Pelosi’s attempt to polish her legacy while teeing up the next wave of Democratic assaults on Trump.
