Pelosi is starting to air out everyone’s dirty laundry. She has lost the gavel, and she’s taking people with her.
And now Nancy Pelosi confessed to an incredibly evil act that is dropping jaws.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, long known for her political maneuvering, recently admitted her role in the push to sideline President Biden, revealing her long-held dissatisfaction with his political team.
Despite her recent public praise for Biden, including a suggestion that he deserves a spot on Mt. Rushmore, Pelosi didn’t hold back in expressing her true feelings.
“They won the White House. Bravo. But my concern was: This ain’t happening, and we have to make a decision for this to happen. The president has to make the decision for that to happen,” Pelosi (D-Calif.) told the New Yorker, making it clear she never had much faith in Biden’s political operation.
Her comments come amid her ongoing book tour, which has also served as damage control for her involvement in Biden’s withdrawal, a move that has seemingly strained their once-close relationship.
At 84, Pelosi’s sharp political instincts are still on display, even as she tries to walk back her involvement in what many see as a coup within the Democratic Party.
In a series of interviews, Pelosi has been lavishing Biden with praise, calling him a “consequential president” who deserves recognition alongside the likes of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt.
But when pressed on her true feelings, Pelosi revealed that she had serious concerns about Biden’s ability to win in 2024.
After Biden’s disastrous debate performance against former President Donald Trump in June, which sent shockwaves through the Democratic Party, Pelosi initially defended him.
However, her support quickly waned. Just two days after Biden reassured Democrats in Congress that he was “firmly committed” to staying in the race, Pelosi appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” a show Biden is rumored to favor, and hinted that it might be time for him to reconsider.
“It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run,” she said, before adding, “We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short.”
When reminded that Biden had just committed to staying in the race, Pelosi’s lukewarm response was, “Whatever he decides, we go with.”
Behind the scenes, Pelosi’s involvement was even more pointed. Reports indicate she confronted Biden with polling data showing he couldn’t win and had him put his longtime adviser Mike Donilon on the phone to discuss the matter. Despite her public denials, Pelosi’s role in the effort to push Biden out has been well-documented, even as she insists she didn’t make calls to other Democrats to stir up dissent.
Pelosi’s goal was clear: to ensure that “Donald Trump would never set foot in the White House again.” She claims her intention was simply to push Biden to run a better campaign, but the fallout from her actions suggests a more complicated motive.
Since the ordeal, Pelosi admits she hasn’t spoken with Biden, and she’s unsure if their relationship can recover. “I pray so. I cry so,” she said when asked if their bond could survive. “I lose sleep on it, yeah.”
Reflecting on Biden’s debate debacle, Pelosi acknowledged that she was “startled” by his performance, despite having downplayed the challenge Trump posed.
“Earlier in the day, when I was with the members, they were, like, Oh, how’s it going to be? ‘Trump will be so awful,’ I said. ‘Don’t worry about it. The Joe Biden of the State of the Union is going to show up. It’s going to be great.’ In fact, I didn’t even want him to be in a debate,” she recounted.
Pelosi has never been shy about her disdain for Trump, calling him “doggy doo-doo” and warning that Biden would get “doggy doo-doo” on his shoe by debating him. The outcome left her and many others “stunned.”
As she promotes her memoir, The Art of Power, Pelosi’s candid reflections on her role in Biden’s political downfall reveal a savvy operator who isn’t afraid to do what she believes is necessary, even if it means turning on her own party’s leader.
