The New York Times has lost all credibility. They’re purely Leftist propaganda.
But now the New York Times is on the verge of shutting down thanks to Trump’s election victory.
The New York Times editorial board reacted somberly to President-elect Donald Trump’s return to the White House, viewing his victory as a serious risk to the republic.
“American voters have made the choice to return Donald Trump to the White House, setting the nation on a precarious course that no one can fully foresee,” the board wrote.
They added a somber warning, saying, “Mr. Trump’s election poses a grave threat to [the] republic, but he will not determine the long-term fate of American democracy. That outcome remains in the hands of the American people.”
After a resounding comeback, Trump completed his return to power, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in a decisive win. His path to victory cut through crucial swing states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin, with gains in historically blue states.
By early Wednesday, media outlets declared him the winner, as Trump promised a “golden era” ahead.
The New York Times, however, wasn’t celebrating. Cautioning Americans about the challenges Trump’s leadership could pose, the board urged vigilance:
“Over the next four years, Americans must be clear-eyed about the threat to the nation and its laws that will come from its 47th president and be prepared to exercise their rights in defense of the country and the people, laws, institutions and values that have kept it strong.”
The board encouraged all Americans to approach the new administration with caution, arguing that Trump’s motives center on “the pursuit of power and the preservation of the cult of personality he has built around himself.”
It raised specific concerns about his approach to foreign policy, his threats to punish political opponents, and his circle of advisors, whom it described as “enablers prepared to pledge loyalty to him.”
Additionally, The Times advised Democrats to reflect on the loss and examine how they misjudged the political landscape.
It noted that party leaders were slow to acknowledge President Biden’s inability to mount a successful re-election campaign.
The Times had, in fact, joined other voices calling for Biden to step down after his underwhelming performance in a June debate against Trump.
He eventually exited the race and endorsed Harris in July, leaving her to spearhead the Democratic campaign in a tight election timeline.
Unlike some other legacy newspapers that refrained from endorsements this election cycle, such as The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times firmly endorsed Harris back in September. Labeling her as the “only patriotic choice,” the board deemed Trump unfit for office.
This endorsement was unsurprising, as the paper has consistently supported Democratic candidates in every presidential election since 1952.
But now that traditional mainstream media outlets like The Times are being abandoned for alternative media like podcasts, its entirely possible that by the next election cycle, The New York Times’ endorsement won’t mean much of anything.
And for the United States, that’s a very good thing.
