Joe Biden thought he had allies in all of the mainstream media. But it looks like he’s gravely mistaken.
As this news outlet smacked Biden with a serious demand he can’t ignore.
USA Today published an op-ed on Monday that begged for President Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race.
The op-ed, titled “How can Biden save America from Trump’s return to the White House? Drop out of the race,” explained that it would be “for the good of the nation and the party” if Biden calls it quits.
Jeremy Mayer, the author of the piece and a professor at George Mason University, detailed how Biden and former President Donald Trump are “the two oldest and among the most unpopular candidates in our history.” He also claimed that it “doesn’t have to be that way.”
Mayer also explained that “there is a way for President Joe Biden to step aside, to voluntarily remove himself for the good of the nation and the party.”
“He sincerely and accurately believed that he was the Democrat with the best chance to beat Trump,” Mayer said of Biden’s reasoning to face Trump in the 2020 election. “Now, he is one of the few national Democrats who could get Trump reelected.”
Mayer’s op-ed also mentioned the president’s poor polling numbers, specifically among young people, and black and Hispanic voters in battleground states.
“Biden is seen as too old to serve a second term by many voters. Some perceptions of candidates can be changed. But voters are unlikely to decide that Biden is younger and more vigorous than they thought,” Mayer stated.
The author did throw out potential Democrat replacements for the 81-year-old commander-in-chief.
Those replacements included, Govs. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) and Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), and Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Cory Booker (D-NJ). Mayer did note that Vice President Kamala Harris would be too risky of a candidate for the Democrats to pick to face Trump.
“And while Vice President Kamala Harris, who polls worse against Trump than Biden does, would have been a serious threat to take the nomination in open primaries, there is no chance a convention of Biden delegates would select her. They want to eat Trump too badly to take that risk,” the op-ed read.
Rising inflation, the president’s age, and poor foreign policy decisions were noted as to why Joe Biden may encounter failure this election year.
Mayer also said that an open Democrat convention would be in the party’s best interest.
“Mr. President, you’re one of the few Americans old enough to remember when conventions were fascinating and powerful. They’ve become predictable and almost pointless. Why not pull a surprise on the Republicans, and let the convention pick the nominee for the first time in decades?” Mayer asked of Biden.
“Why not go down in history as the guy who beat Trump twice and saved our republic. The first time you beat him by running. This second time, you can beat him by not running.”
You know it’s bad for Joe Biden and his campaign when news outlets are starting to turn against them.
The media has historically been in the Left’s corner and has constantly come to the defense of Democrat politicians.
But this time, Biden isn’t receiving any sort of defense and support from USA Today.
