The world could come crashing down at the press of a button. But one nation may just be crazy enough to do it.
And now a nuclear threat against the United States put the Pentagon on total lockdown.
Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), sounded the alarm this week about Iran’s dangerous march toward becoming a nuclear-armed state.
The IAEA, a United Nations body tasked with promoting the peaceful use of nuclear technology, now faces the grim reality of a regime exploiting international diplomacy to edge closer to weaponization.
Grossi warned that Iran’s current stockpile of uranium enriched to 60% purity—just shy of the 90% needed for military-grade material—places it “practically at the same level as nuclear-armed states.”
The situation has deteriorated dramatically since the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which capped Iran’s uranium enrichment at 3.68%.
Before the deal, Iran had amassed “200 kilograms of uranium enriched to 20% purity and around 10,000 kilograms of low-enriched uranium,” The Times of Israel noted. Now, Tehran’s enrichment capabilities have soared, leaving the world on edge.
According to the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Iran possesses enough fissile material to build over a dozen nuclear weapons.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Iran could convert its stockpile of near-weapons-grade uranium into military-grade material in just days, underscoring the imminent threat.
Beyond the nuclear front, Iran’s hostility toward the U.S. remains palpable.
The regime “is actively trying to kill President Trump,” a source from Trump’s transition team stated, a chilling revelation that underscores Iran’s disregard for international norms.
Court documents reveal that Iranian officials instructed Farhad Shakeri, 51, to surveil and assassinate Trump.
“The charges announced today expose Iran’s continued brazen attempts to target U.S. citizens, including President-elect Donald Trump,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said.
He highlighted Iran’s use of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)—a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization—to conspire with criminals and hire hitmen for attacks on American soil.
The Department of Justice reinforced these concerns, stating:
“The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is actively targeting nationals of the United States and its allies living in countries around the world for attacks, including assault, kidnapping, and murder.”
Iran’s blatant defiance of international law and pursuit of nuclear weapons should send a clear message: this is not a regime interested in peace.
The Islamic Republic continues to pose an existential threat, not only to the Middle East but to the entire world, with its reckless nuclear ambitions and brazen acts of terror.
It’s a chilling reminder that appeasement and weak policies toward Tehran have only emboldened its aggression.
