Democrats aren’t going down without a fight. They want Trump to fail.
And this radical Leftist just launched a scheme to try and destroy President Trump.
A New York congressman is urging the Democratic Party to reconnect with its working-class base and take on “corrupt elites who’ve been in power far too long” as a strategy to recover from the political challenges posed by President Trump’s return to the White House.
Since Trump’s re-election, Leftists have faced a notable cultural shift and what many describe as a leadership vacuum. However, Rep. Pat Ryan, a Democrat from the Hudson Valley, believes the party is beginning to regain its footing.
“Democrats got our butts kicked in November. No two ways about it,” Ryan admitted candidly on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday. “We stopped meeting people where they were. We became the party of the elites, and folks felt that.”
Ryan, who first won his House seat in a heated special election and narrowly defeated Republican Marc Molinaro, expressed optimism about the party’s recent steps forward. “I’m optimistic because this week, we set the terms of the fight ahead,” he wrote.
He emphasized the emergence of a coalition of Democratic leaders ready to take on the challenges of Trump’s presidency: “A core group of Democratic leaders rose up IMMEDIATELY to make it clear we fight FOR the people and AGAINST the same corrupt elites who’ve been in power far too long.”
Ryan also criticized Trump for favoring wealthy allies during his first week back in office, pointing to the presence of Big Tech CEOs at the indoor inauguration ceremony after cold weather moved it from the National Mall to the Capitol Rotunda. This observation by Ryan was ironic due to the fact that Kamala Harris was funded by elite billionaires during her campaign.
“We rightly hammered [Trump] for it,” Ryan noted of the event. “But it wasn’t just ragging on Trump. We DIRECTLY and FORCEFULLY tied it back to a core message of corruption.”
The congressman also condemned Trump’s decision to pardon over 1,500 January 6 rioters during his first day back in office. Among the pardoned were individuals convicted of assaulting police officers during the Capitol attack. “Beating them with flag poles. Tasering an officer until he had a heart attack. 5 law enforcement officers k*lled. 140 wounded,” Ryan wrote, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
As for Trump, he has wasted no time implementing a sweeping agenda in his second term. He has vowed to bring about a “golden age” for the country, pushing pro-business regulatory reforms, boosting domestic energy production to lower prices, and intensifying efforts to address border security.
The Democratic Party has struggled to regain its footing since Trump’s decisive victory in November, which saw him win all seven swing states and become the first Republican in two decades to secure the popular vote.
Former President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have largely stepped back from the political spotlight, leaving the party without a central figure to rival Trump’s dominance within the GOP.
Adding to their challenges, Democrats have been losing ground in cultural debates, with Republicans hammering them on issues like transgenderism and perceived overreach in progressive policies. These setbacks have sparked significant introspection within the party.
Despite these obstacles, Ryan pointed to the Democrats’ initial responses to Trump’s actions as evidence of a renewed resolve.
“That’s a wide cross-section of our party, from all parts of our country, from all backgrounds, from all ideologies, LISTENING to the American people and responding clearly: Left, right and center be d*mned, we’re here to lower costs for YOU and your family,” he stated.
While acknowledging the party’s imperfections, Ryan expressed hope for the future. “Yes, the Democratic party sure as h*ll isn’t perfect. I know we’ve got an awful lot of work to do to regain trust,” he admitted.
“This intense, unyielding and unwavering dedication to fighting FOR the people and AGAINST anyone who would do them harm, that’s the Democratic Party I want to be a part of. That’s our path out of the wilderness,” Ryan said.
It remains to be seen if the leaders of the Democrat Party will take Ryan’s advice to heart. Since Donald Trump won the election, they’ve continued their message of division and absurdity when trying to pitch their policies and ideologies to the American people.
