Donald Trump has been right about a lot of things. But this might be his craziest foretelling yet.
As a shocking Trump predictions comes true in the most insane way.
On Thursday, former President Donald Trump addressed the federal indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, expressing that he had long anticipated such an outcome.
Speaking to reporters from Trump Tower, Trump reflected on the situation, connecting Adams’ vocal stance on the city’s migrant crisis to the mayor’s legal troubles.
Though Trump acknowledged that he does not know Adams well, he highlighted the mayor’s efforts to confront the migrant crisis in New York City. According to Trump, Adams’ criticism of the federal government’s role in the issue may have contributed to his current predicament.
“I watched about a year ago when he talked about how the illegal migrants are hurting our city, and the federal government should pay us, and we shouldn’t have to take them,” Trump told reporters. “And I said, ‘You know what? He’ll be indicted within a year.’”
Trump continued, pointing to what he sees as a troubling misuse of federal resources. “I was exactly right, because that’s what we have. We have people that use the Justice Department and the FBI at levels that have never been seen before.”
Adams, who is now facing mounting calls to step down, has previously claimed that his outspoken criticism of the Harris-Biden administration’s handling of the migrant crisis made him a target.
The crisis, which is expected to cost the city more than $12 billion by 2026, has been a central issue for the mayor in the latter half of his first term.
In a pre-recorded video released on Wednesday, Adams echoed his stance, stating, “I always knew that if I stood my ground for all of you, that I would be a target, and a target I became.”
He continued, “Despite our pleas, the federal government did nothing as its broken immigration policies overloaded our shelter system. With no relief, I put the people of New York before party and politics.”
Since late 2023, Adams has been highly critical of the White House’s lack of support in dealing with the influx of migrants.
After a December meeting with President Biden, Adams made it clear to reporters that the situation in New York was dire. “Help is not on the way,” he stated, lamenting that “the national government has turned its back on New York City.”
However, the White House has denied that Adams’ criticisms played any role in the indictment. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reiterated the administration’s stance on Thursday, saying, “Look, we have been always very clear, the president was clear, even when he was running in 2020, that he was going to make sure that DOJ is independent… I’m not going to go beyond that.”
Adams, now the first sitting mayor of New York City to face a federal indictment, is charged with multiple offenses, including conspiracy to receive campaign contributions from foreign nationals, wire fraud, bribery, and solicitation of foreign donations. If convicted, the mayor could face up to 45 years in prison.
Trump, who has faced a variety of legal challenges himself, appeared sympathetic to Adams, despite their political differences.
The former president, who was convicted in New York earlier this year for the high-profile “hush money” case, also faces charges in Florida and Washington, D.C., related to his handling of classified documents and his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
Reflecting on Adams’ situation, Trump offered words of support, but with a sharp critique of the justice system. “I wish him well,” Trump said of Adams. “These are dirty players. These are bad people. They cheat and they do anything necessary.”
While Trump’s prediction about Adams has come true, it shows just how weaponized the Biden DOJ has become. That should be a scary sight for all Americans.
