It will be no easy task for Joe Biden to win reelection. Even members of his own party know this.
And the Biden administration is in crisis mode after a Democrat made this demand.
The 2024 presidential election is heating up across both sides of the political aisle.
The first Republican primary debate has come and gone and conservatives are beginning to decipher who they want to challenge President Biden.
But, the GOP isn’t the only party who is trying to knock Biden out from getting a second term.
Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is attempting to be the party’s nominee for 2024.
And lately he believes as though Biden’s age is certainly a reason as to why he’s unfit to hold office.
At 80 years old, the President would be 86 by the time he’d leave office, should he be reelected.
Kennedy vocalized his concerns about Biden’s age in an interview with Fox News, saying, “A lot of people will say that ‘well President Biden is surrounded by very good people who will run the country even if he can’t,’ but I don’t think that’s a good way for democracy to work.'”
Allies of Biden aren’t so keen on Kennedy’s attacks towards the President.
One anonymous Democrat strategist told Fox News that it’s “absolutely shocking that the pro-Russia, pro-gun, anti-vaxxer candidate pretending to be a Democrat is parroting the same tired, worn-out Republican talking points. Give me a break.”
Kennedy however, continued by issuing a challenge to Joe Biden to make more public appearances, including a debate.
“It’s important for the American people to know that their president has the vigor to handle this very rigorous job and I think there are enough doubts about that now that President Biden really needs to come out and have an unscripted meetings and interactions with voters, that he needs to do some town halls and retail politics and hopefully a debate so that the American people can make a choice about whether or not the president is up to the job.”
A debate with the President would be a great scenario for Kennedy, as he feels he’s not been treated fairly by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) during his campaign thus far.
“The DNC’s own rules say that they have to be neutral during the election but they are very open about having abandoned their neutrality and they’ve made a series of rules that make it almost – if those rules continue – it makes it almost impossible for anybody except Joe Biden to win the primary process,” Kennedy said.
If Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was able to share a debate stage with the President, it would likely show Democrat voters that they have a viable alternative option for President, as opposed to Biden who can barely speak publicly without fumbling over his words.
For now, Kennedy remains a long shot to not only debate Biden, but to win the Democrat nomination.
That hasn’t stopped him from remaining hopeful, however.
“I’m very confident that if I’m given a fair shot, that I’m going to win.”
