People should learn by now not to go after Donald Trump. He and his allies are always ready to fight back.
And this top RINO is on life support after getting torched for taking a shot at the Trump admin.
Liz Cheney Faces Backlash Over USAID Defense Amid DOGE Scrutiny
Former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney found herself at the center of conservative criticism this week after defending her past work at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The controversy erupted on X, formerly Twitter, following heightened scrutiny of the agency by Elon Musk’s DOGE initiative.
“D*mn right, @Elon,” Cheney wrote in response to Musk on Wednesday, mistakenly tagging an account that does not belong to him. “I’m proud of what America did to win the Cold War, defeat Soviet communism, and defend democracy. Our nation stood for freedom. You may be unfamiliar with that part of our history since you weren’t yet an American citizen.”
Musk had previously reacted with a simple “interesting” to a post from Mike Benz, executive director of the Foundation for Freedom Online. Benz had highlighted Cheney’s past role at USAID, claiming she was “spawned” from the agency, which has been a recent target of DOGE’s investigative efforts.
Cheney’s work with USAID focused on U.S. diplomatic efforts in Poland, Hungary, Russia, and Ukraine. However, her defense of the agency drew sharp criticism from conservatives, many of whom rallied behind Musk and pushed back against Cheney’s remarks.
“He is an American by choice instead of by birth, which is a weird thing to insult someone over,” Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway said on X.
“But more importantly, he didn’t commit so many crimes against the country that he had to be pardoned by Joe Biden, so he’s got that going for him.”
Former Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones added his thoughts, writing, “You care more about illegals coming to this country stealing from this country than @elon giving to this country.”
Fox News contributor Joey Jones offered a more personal critique: “Ya, but he was around when your daddy was making the military industrial complex billions sending me and my buddies to die chasing the ghosts of WMDs in Iraq.”
Several other conservative figures chimed in, including Right Turn Strategies President Chris Barron, who said, “Love the anti-immigrant sentiment from Liz. Funny how they always end up being everything they claim their opponents are.”
Breitbart senior editor Joel Pollak called Cheney’s remark “Pure bigotry,” while Twitchy.com editor Samantha Janney noted, “The fact Elon said a single word and was able to set you off tells me a lot, Liz.”
The controversy surrounding Cheney’s past with USAID comes as DOGE’s efforts have led to the agency’s effective shutdown. The Trump administration has criticized USAID, calling it a hub for wasteful government spending.
“For decades, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been unaccountable to taxpayers as it funnels massive sums of money to the ridiculous — and, in many cases, malicious — pet projects of entrenched bureaucrats, with next-to-no oversight,” the White House stated earlier this week.
As of this past week, USAID’s headquarters remain closed, leaving thousands of employees uncertain about their futures. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, now serving as acting director, has pledged to conduct a comprehensive review of the agency’s operations.
“The president made me the acting administrator,” Rubio told Fox News. “I’ve delegated that power to someone who is there full time, and we’re going to go through the same process at USAID as we’re going through now at the State Department.”
As of now, USAID’s future is looking about as dim as Liz Cheney’s political future.
