Democrats aren’t handling the new Trump administration very well. They’re clearly losing their minds.
And this Trump cabinet pick causes this Leftist Senator to explode in anger.
Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and FBI director nominee Kash Patel engaged in a heated exchange on Thursday during Patel’s confirmation hearing, with much of the back-and-forth centering on a song recorded by inmates jailed for their roles in the January 6 Capitol riot.
Schiff pressed Patel on whether he stood by previous testimony that he had no involvement in the creation of the song, which the senator noted featured President Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
“[That] is interesting, because here’s what you told Steve Bannon on his podcast: ‘So, what we thought would be cool is if we captured that audio and then, of course, had the greatest president, President Donald J. Trump, recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Then we went to a studio and recorded it, mastered it, digitized it, and put it out as a song,'” Schiff said, quoting Patel’s remarks.
When asked to explain the statement, Patel responded: “That’s why it says, ‘we’ as you highlighted.”
Schiff quickly fired back: “Yeah, and you’re part of that ‘we’ — right — when you say ‘we’ that includes you, Mr. Patel.”
“Not in every instance,” Patel countered, maintaining that he had not personally taken part in the recording or production process.
Schiff appeared unconvinced. “Well, that’s new. So, when you said, ‘we,’ you didn’t really mean you. Is that your testimony?”
Patel held his ground: “Not unless you have a new definition for the word ‘we.'”
The exchange drew comparisons to an infamous moment from August 1997, when President Bill Clinton, testifying before a grand jury about his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, dissected the meaning of the word “is” in an attempt to clarify his prior statements.
“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is,” Clinton said at the time. “[I]f ‘is’ means ‘is and never has been,’ that is not — that is one thing. If it means ‘there is none,’ that was a completely true statement,” Clinton testified.”
Unlike Clinton, Patel insisted that his use of the word “we” had been appropriate. However, Schiff accused him of aggressively promoting the song’s release.
“I don’t know what that means, but I promoted the heck out of raising money for families in need,” Patel responded.
The confrontation escalated when Schiff turned Patel’s attention to the law enforcement officers in the room, arguing that the inmates featured on the recording had assaulted them or their coworkers during the riot.
“I’m looking at you. You’re talking to me,” Patel said, refusing to engage with Schiff’s demand that he directly address the officers.
Schiff then challenged Patel to state how “proud” he was that Trump had allegedly promised to pardon all Jan. 6 inmates. Patel forcefully rejected the claim.
“I’ve never, never, ever accepted violence against law enforcement. I’ve worked with these men and women, as you know, my entire life,” Patel shot back.
Adam Schiff is yet another example of an unhinged Democrat who will stop at nothing to try and disrupt the Trump administration.
