Donald Trump is on a crusade. And he’s not taking any prisoners.

Now Trump met this Democrat Governor and immediately started throwing punches.

Trump Clashes With Maine Governor Over Transgender Athlete Ban

President Donald Trump didn’t hold back during a White House speech when he confronted Maine’s Democrat Governor Janet Mills over his executive order banning transgender athletes in women’s sports. The exchange quickly turned heated, with Mills vowing legal action.

Trump Calls Out Mills Over Compliance

Speaking to a bipartisan group of governors, Trump touted his ban before singling out Mills.

“Is Maine here? The governor of Maine?” Trump called out. “Are you not going to comply with it?”

Mills, without hesitation, responded.

“I will comply with state and federal law,” she said flatly.

Tensions Escalate

Trump made it clear that defiance wouldn’t come without consequences.

“You better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funding,” he shot back. “By the way, your population may be somewhat liberal—although I did very well there—your population doesn’t want men playing in women’s sports.”

Mills doubled down.

“We’re going to follow the law,” she repeated. “See you in court.”

Trump, refusing to let her have the last word, delivered his own parting shot.

“I look forward to that, that should be a real easy one,” he said. “And enjoy your life after governor because I don’t think you’ll be an elected official afterward.”

Maine Defies Trump’s Order

Maine is among a handful of states refusing to comply with Trump’s executive order, which his administration says enforces Title IX by banning biological males from competing in women’s sports. The Maine Principal’s Association has insisted that transgender athletes can still compete, openly defying the administration’s directive.

Mills, 77, has made it clear she won’t back down.

“If the president attempts to unilaterally deprive Maine school children of the benefit of federal funding, my administration and the attorney general will take all appropriate and necessary legal action to restore that funding and the academic opportunity it provides,” she said. “The State of Maine will not be intimidated by the president’s threats.”

Now, that legal battle seems imminent.

Trump’s Standing in Maine

Despite its left-leaning reputation, Trump performed well in Maine, winning 45% of the vote last fall. However, he lost the state to former Vice President Kamala Harris.

As for Mills, she’s in her second term and, under state law, cannot seek reelection. But after her defiant showdown with Trump, her political future may be in doubt.
