Trump’s border czar in utter disbelief over what a Democrat congressmember just did

The Democrats have pulled back the curtains. Their extremism is on full display.

That’s why Trump’s border czar couldn’t believe what a Democrat congressmember just did.

Tom Homan Criticizes Rep. Ramirez’s Remarks at Mexico City Summit

Tom Homan, the border czar, sharply criticized Illinois Democratic Representative Delia Ramirez on Wednesday for prioritizing her Guatemalan heritage over her American identity during a summit in Mexico City that opposed U.S. influence.

At the gathering, attended by several progressive lawmakers, Ramirez declared in Spanish, “proud Guatemalan before [she is] an American.” Speaking to journalists outside the White House, Homan called her comments “disgusting” and a disservice to the voters who elected her to serve their interests.

“I think what she said was disgusting. I mean, she’s a sitting U.S. congresswoman and a citizen of this country,” Homan said. “She’s serving at the privilege of her state, her voters put her in there. So I think her commitment should be to her state and the people who put her in that position. That should be her constituency. And I think what she said there was, in a veiled way, supporting illegal aliens from Guatemala coming over here.”

Homan emphasized that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would maintain its aggressive deportation operations, vowing to remove “every illegal alien from Guatemala” and other nations from the United States.

“What she needs to know is ICE is deporting thousands of nationals of Guatemala every week and we’re going to continue that until every illegal alien from Guatemala is removed in this country. That’s what the people voted for and that’s what we’re going to do. It’s unfortunate that she said that. It’s ridiculous,” Homan continued.

Ramirez, joined by other left-leaning legislators like Representatives Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, participated in the second annual Pan-American Congress, which aimed to counter U.S. global influence. Ramirez, whose parents immigrated illegally from Guatemala, accused the U.S. of being “addicted to war” and pursuing “imperialism, militarization, conquest, control, competition in its attempt at domination.”

Her website highlights her unique status as the only congresswoman in a “mixed-status marriage,” noting that her husband is an undocumented immigrant. In response to Ramirez’s statements, Tennessee Republican Representative Andy Ogles demanded her denaturalization and deportation in a statement issued Monday.

“Denaturalize, deport, and kick her off [the] Homeland Committee. We know where her allegiances lie,” Ogles said. Similarly, Representative Ilhan Omar has faced scrutiny for appearing to favor Somalia over the U.S. In a January 2024 speech to a predominantly Somali audience, she stated that her role in Congress is to represent Somali Americans’ interests, saying, “U.S. will do what we want and nothing else.”

In February, Texas Republican Representative Brandon Gill launched a petition to deport Omar after she shared a video that appeared to guide undocumented Somali immigrants on avoiding deportation policies under President Donald Trump.

Democrat Extremism Turning Off American Voters

Recent actions and statements by some Democratic lawmakers have sparked widespread backlash, with critics arguing that their rhetoric and policies alienate American voters by prioritizing foreign interests or extreme ideological stances. From inflammatory comments to controversial policy positions, these instances have fueled perceptions of extremism, contributing to voter disillusionment as evidenced by recent polling and election outcomes.

The remarks by Representative Delia Ramirez at the Mexico City summit exemplify this trend. Her declaration of prioritizing her Guatemalan identity over her American one drew sharp condemnation, not only from political opponents but also from voters who expect elected officials to uphold national interests. A Rasmussen Reports poll from August 2025 found that 62% of likely voters believe elected officials should prioritize U.S. citizens over foreign nationals, indicating that Ramirez’s comments may resonate poorly with a significant portion of the electorate.

Similarly, Representative Ilhan Omar’s January 2024 speech, where she emphasized representing Somali interests in Congress, has continued to stir controversy. The backlash was evident in a Gallup poll from July 2025, which showed that 55% of Americans disapprove of lawmakers prioritizing foreign interests over domestic ones. Omar’s subsequent video, perceived as advising undocumented immigrants on evading deportation, further amplified criticism, with Republican-led petitions gaining traction among voters frustrated by such actions.
