The Parkinson’s expert who has evaluated President Biden — making eight separate trips to the White House in eight months — is also a donor to his campaign, records reveal.
Dr. Kevin Cannard, a prominent neurologist at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC, has made several small donations to the 81-year-old’s campaign, starting in February 2020, as per Federal Election Commission filings.
His contributions, first reported by the Washington Examiner, amount to just over $3,300 — with the latest donation made in May, the records indicate.
Details of Cannard’s donations came to light after the White House acknowledged Monday that the neurologist has been evaluating Biden as part of his annual physicals.
This disclosure was made in a letter from Biden’s personal physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor — just hours after press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre avoided explaining Cannard’s frequent recent visits to the White House.
“Dr. Cannard was the neurological specialist that examined President Biden for each of his annual physicals,” O’Connor said.
“President Biden has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual physical.”
O’Connor emphasized that Biden’s last physical in February showed no signs of Parkinson’s or any other neurological disorders.
The personal physician added that although Cannard is a Parkinson’s disease expert, he has been practicing as a general neurologist for the past six years and has served as the neurology consultant to the White House medical unit since 2012.
This follows visitor logs, first reported by The New York Post, showing Cannard visited the White House residence clinic eight times for early morning appointments between July 2023 and March 2024.
The logs indicate that the specialist met with Megan Nasworthy, who coordinates primary care visits for the president and his family, seven times.
During his other visit, Cannard met with O’Connor and a Walter Reed cardiologist, Dr. John Atwood.
Unanswered Questions
The official story from Biden’s doctor and the White House raises far more questions than it answers.
Can a doctor who donates to the president he says is “competent” to be trusted?
If he only visits for physicals, why did he visit eight times in less than a year?
If all of the previous points are true, why is the White House Press Secretary always unaware?
