Former President Trump is set to give himself up for arrest in New York today. Nothing could’ve prepared him for this.
And Donald Trump just got shocking news from the DOJ that changes everything.
It’s been almost seven years since Trump won the 2016 election, and the Left has never stopped trying to bring him down.
Whether it was Russian collusion allegations that turned out to be baseless…
Or lies about supposed coercion used against Ukraine – something we have Biden on tape committing – Democrats are out for blood.
Now Trump is expected to be arrested and formally charged in New York City today, making him the first former president to be charged with a crime.
But now the DOJ is saying they have more supposed dirt on Donald Trump.
The Washington Post reported on Sunday that the Justice Department has additional evidence pointing to probable obstruction by former President Donald Trump in the agency’s investigation into his handling of confidential documents.
Those familiar with the inquiry told the Post that investigators had information that suggests Trump personally inspected some of the records in his Mar-a-Lago residence after getting a subpoena from the Justice Department, out of an apparent desire to hold on to some things.
Following the May 2022 subpoena, the former president’s team handed up some secret papers, but the FBI’s August search uncovered more that hadn’t been.
The Post stated that further information uncovered by investigators could be evidence of Trump’s purpose, suggesting that he instructed others to deceive federal authorities seeking to retrieve papers from his time as president before the subpoena last year.
According to CNN, the authorities have emails and texts from former president Barack Obama’s assistant Molly Michael, who quit her position last year.
These texts and notes, which have been in the possession of the investigators for some months, include information on what Trump was doing and who he was meeting with, information that may be useful for deciphering his whereabouts in relation to the documents.
The problem with prosecuting Donald Trump over alleged mishandling of classified documents is that handfuls of other politicians have been caught doing far worse.
Joe Biden has been found to have documents dating back to his time as a Senator, and has even been criticized by top Democrats.
Just last week, Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee Mark Warner criticized the White House for not being open about the contents of classified documents that were discovered at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, as well as at President Biden’s Delaware residence and former Washington, DC, office.
On Wednesday, Warner (D-Va.) told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, “This is where the Biden administration gets an absolute failing grade.” “Their position is outrageous.”
“I’m done with the lack of willingness for the administration to address this,” added Warner, who noted that both Democrats and Republicans were upset that the White House had not complied with requests for information about the documents beginning this past September.
“We’ve seen squat,” Warner told Mitchell. “I’m not a guy that comes on TV and makes threats, but I’m joining with my Republican colleagues and my colleagues, Democrat and Republican, in the House. This position cannot stand.”
Of course, there is a two-tiered justice system in this country. Where Republicans are lambasted and prosecuted, Democrats are given a pass and we’re told there’s no grounds to pursue charges.
This is banana republic stuff.
