Donald Trump can’t believe it. This is not the news he wanted to hear.
And President Trump collapsed in his chair when he read the results of this report.
You could almost hear the panic in Harry Enten’s voice Monday morning when he rolled out the new numbers. The same Latino voters who handed Donald Trump historic gains in 2024 have, in just ten months, turned on him.
Enten practically shouted: “He is 38 points underwater!” That’s how Latinos now rate Trump on immigration.
The Immigration Issue That Torched Everything
Go back to October 2024 and Kamala Harris led Trump on the same issue by a pathetic 2 points.
Now, according to Enten, “On the issue of immigration – Latinos despise, hate Donald Trump.” His exact words. He added, “In their mind, he is doing something absolutely wrong when it comes to immigration.”
Approval Rating in Freefall
The overall picture is even uglier. A CBS/YouGov tracker shows Trump’s net approval with Latinos went from –2 in February to –34 by late October. Enten’s reaction? “Oh my goodness.”
“Again, whatever Donald Trump is doing in office in the minds of Latinos, it is not working. They have turned against him in massive, massive numbers.”
Virginia and New Jersey Elections
And yes, those November 4 beatdowns in Virginia and New Jersey suddenly make sense. Enten pulled up the heaviest Latino areas and the swings were brutal.
Union City, New Jersey, saw a 52-point swing from Harris’s margin to Mikie Sherrill’s blowout. Manassas Park, Virginia, saw a 22-point swing to Abigail Spanberger.
Enten was laughing in disbelief: “I’m laughing because you never see any numbers like this.” Sherrill “ran away with this,” he said, noting Harris had only won the same turf by a small margin a year earlier.
Downballot Bloodbath
Enten’s conclusion was blunt: “The idea of what happens to Donald Trump won’t impact downballot, if you’re a Republican, and you believe that, that is fantasyland. Donald Trump absolutely impacted what happened downballot.”
Harry Enten didn’t break the news. He just read the obituary out loud while the body was still warm.
And the name on the tombstone? The myth of the permanent Trump-Latino alliance.
