Trump’s DOJ isn’t messing around. They mean business.
And this FBI director was indicted in a move that’s sparked mass chaos.
The Justice Department has hit former FBI Director James Comey with a second indictment, according to reports from CNN on Tuesday.
This latest legal action comes as accountability efforts gain serious momentum under the current administration, targeting one of the more controversial figures in recent Washington history.
Comey, long viewed by many Americans as a symbol of the deep state’s weaponization against populist leaders, now faces renewed scrutiny from federal prosecutors. While exact charges in this second round remain under wraps at the time of writing, the move marks a clear push to hold powerful insiders responsible for their actions.
Last September, the DOJ had already charged Comey with lying to Congress about his leaks to the press. That case collapsed after a federal judge tossed it out, citing issues with the appointment of the interim U.S. Attorney handling the matter in Virginia’s Eastern District.
But this new indictment reportedly ties into a bizarre Instagram post Comey shared in May 2025, per Fox News.
The image featured shells arranged on a beach to spell out “8647.” Critics quickly interpreted the numbers as a veiled threat against President Trump—linking to the 86th president and the number 47.
After the backlash exploded, Comey hurriedly deleted the post. He later offered this explanation:
“I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message. I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down.”
The former FBI boss insisted he meant no harm, claiming the shell formation was innocent and that any violent interpretation never crossed his mind.
Yet for millions of everyday Americans who watched Comey’s pattern of behavior over the years, the post looked like more of the same elite smugness.
Many patriots viewed it as tone-deaf at best and menacing at worst. In an era where political violence has claimed real victims and rhetoric has grown dangerously heated, even former top law enforcement officials should know better than to flirt with such imagery.
Comey’s attorneys had no comment when reached by CNN about the developing indictment.
This second indictment represents a broader awakening in Washington. The days of former officials skating by with minimal consequences appear to be ending.
Regular citizens have grown tired of a two-tiered justice system that hammers working families while shielding swamp creatures.
