The Clintons’ fall from grace was fast and hard. Now it’s going to get even worse.
Because Bill Clinton made this crazy confession about Hillary that you won’t believe.
According to a new book, former President Bill Clinton was rather critical of his wife Hillary’s failed political campaign in 2016.
According to a passage in Ryan Grim’s “The Squad: AOC and the Hope of a Political Revolution”, the former president allegedly criticized his wife’s campaign for their poor communication skills, going so far as to say that they couldn’t sell “p—- on a troop train.”
The statement allegedly made by Bill Clinton to a trusted associate in the latter part of 2016 strangely surfaced at the same time as Democrats apparently sought Hillary to assist Joe Biden in his re-election campaign.
The comments seem to have been reported first by Grim in an excerpt from his book that analyzes the communication strategies employed by her campaign and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who was running for president at the time as a Democrat.
“Former president Bill Clinton, surveying the landscape and the ham-handed efforts at identity politics, was bereft, lamenting to a longtime friend in the fall of 2016 that Hillary’s campaign ‘could not sell p—- on a troop train,'” Grim alleges in his book.
Nonetheless, Bill Clinton apparently scolded Hillary’s campaign before this comment he made. He allegedly cautioned them against ignoring swing states in another book.
Some consider Hillary’s infamous lack of campaigning in Midwestern states to be her greatest gaffe during the 2016 election, which many attribute to the swing states that went to Trump.
Allegedly, Bill begged Hillary’s campaign not to ignore those regions during the election, but his cries “fell on deaf ears,” according to ABC News.
In their 2017 book, “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign,” journalists Amie Parnes and Jonathan Allen repeated the claim, which drew criticism from former Hillary’s political assistants.
“He thought, these eggheads don’t really know politics. They don’t understand persuasion,” Mr. Allen said back in 2017 in the aftermath of the 2016 election.
Allen also noted at that time that Bill pleaded with Hillary Clinton’s campaign to address states in rural areas and not ignore them.
Democrats are apparently enlisting Hillary to help President Biden’s re-election campaign, even though she lost the 2016 election in spectacular fashion.
According to NBC News, last month she hosted a fundraiser at her house in Georgetown that brought in about $1 million for Biden. As Biden seeks to broaden his appeal to voters, her popularity among women and crucial segments of the Democratic base are seen as positives.
NBC states that as the 2024 presidential election draws near, Clinton’s involvement in Biden’s re-election campaign is anticipated to intensify.
These comments from Bill highlight how he and Hillary have been just two ships passing each other by every now and then ever since Bill left office back in January of 2001.
Their relationship is likely never to be the same after Bill infamously had to say to the nation that he didn’t have “s**ual relations” with Ms. Lewinsky back in the 90s.
After that, Hillary Clinton tried to carve her own path in the Democrat crowd, independent of the help from Bill Clinton or Barack Obama.
Of course, now she knows that was a huge mistake. It’s just stunning to hear Bill Clinton admit to how bad of a candidate his wife was in 2016.
