Donald Trump’s inauguration is just over a week away. It is the start of a new era.
That’s what makes this Fox News host’s sudden announcement about Donald Trump so surprising.
Donald Trump Taps Another Fox News Host For Role In Administration
Fox News talent Leo Terrell took to social media on Thursday to announce that he is leaving Fox News to take on a new role in the Trump administration. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Terrell shared that, effective immediately, he will become a senior counsel to the assistant attorney general in the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. This marks the end of his four-year tenure as a Fox News contributor.
In his new position, Terrell said he will work closely with Trump, Pam Bondi, and other key officials to tackle civil rights issues and promote fairness in the enforcement of laws nationwide. The Department of Justice has been a major focus for Donald Trump and his incoming administration, and Terrell will be playing a role there to reform the DOJ, which has lost so much trust from the American people during the Biden administration.
“This is an honor. And for those people who have heard me articulate my views on the equality of law and treating everyone fair, help is on the way. For those people who believe that the system was used illegally against certain groups because of their political views, help is on the way,” Terrell stated.
Terrell, who was initially a dedicated Democrat and liberal commentator, made a significant political shift in July 2020 when he publicly supported Trump, marking his first-ever endorsement of a Republican presidential candidate. He explained that his decision was driven by his discontent with the Democratic Party’s direction and policies, which he believed no longer aligned with his views or the best interests of the African American community.
“Fair minded friend I have a special message to share. I will be leaving Fox News and joining @realDonaldTrump in Washington. I will be once again be working for Civil Rights for all Americans – this time in the Department of Justice. Thank you to Fox News for having me on the past four years. I look forward to Making America Great Again!” Terrell shared online.

Fox News Talent Adds To Trump’s Incoming Superteam Administration
Mr. Leo Terrell is not the first Fox News employee to be tapped for a major role in the incoming Trump administration. Donald Trump has also nominated Pete Hegseth for the role as Secretary of Defense, a real game-changing move in picking a D.C. outsider for Donald Trump. This nomination rocked the Washington, D.C. establishment to its core.
The news of Hegseth being nominated immediately prompted some RINOs (Republicans in Name ONly) in Congress to call on Trump to reconsider his pick. Democrats, of course, started foaming at the mouth and couldn’t believe Donald Trump would have the gall to pick someone who isn’t accepted by the D.C. bureaucratic establishment. Shortly after Pete Hegseth’s nomination announcement, it seemed like he might not be able to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate even with GOP control.
Today, his odds of confirmation are much better after a few Republican holdouts have signaled they are much more like to vote for the confirmation of Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. The political betting market website called Polymarket has Hegseth’s confirmation as 82% likely to happen. At one point, it was just 39% and it was not looking good for the former Fox News employee.
Donald Trump is clearly going after individuals who are outsiders this time around. In his first administration, Donald Trump did not know who to appoint to critical roles. He admitted as much in his famous podcast interview with Joe Rogan during the campaign trail. He said that was one of his mistakes he would like to correct this time around during his second administration.
So far, Donald Trump has nominated a few key outsiders for important roles. These include Tulsi Gabbard as Direct of National Intelligence, Kash Patel as the head of the FBI, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the head of the Health and Human Services Department, and Pam Bondi as the U.S. attorney general to lead the Department of Justice. All of these picks are likely to be confirmed after U.S. Senate Republicans have met with the Trump candidates.
