In the wake of the murder of George Floyd, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her “Squad” started the “defund the police” movement.
This bad idea spread like wildfire through the Democratic Party, and the police were fair game.
Democrats pointed their guns at the police and blamed them for everything.
They talked bad about police officers all day and night because they had to work hard to keep people safe.
Now, after a deadly year for police, the tragic results of the war on police led by Democrats are becoming clear.
“One of the most dangerous years for law enforcement in recent memory,” said the National Fraternal Order of Police about 2022.
“Last year we saw more officers shot in the line of duty than any other since the National Fraternal Order of Police began recording this data in late 2015,” group president Patrick Yoes said in a statement. “It is unlike anything I’ve seen in my 36 years of law enforcement.”
As of December 19, 323 police officers have been shot in the line of duty, and 60 of them have been killed.
That’s a 13% increase from 2019, which was the last year before Ocasio-movement Cortez’s to stop funding the police took off in 2020.
For years, Democrats made fun of police officers and blamed them for all of society’s problems.
The Left told lies about the police, saying that they were violent “racists” who caused trouble in minority communities.
Because of this, it’s open season on police officers in many cities across the country that are run by Democrats.
Crime is going up all over the country. This is because Democrats aren’t tough enough on crime, which is making things even worse for police officers.
Yoes pointed to Democrat policies, like failing to “prosecute violent offenders” and “releasing repeat offenders arrested for crimes who show a propensity for escalation of violence,” as the driving force behind the current environment.
George Soros, a radical left-wing billionaire, is pouring millions of dollars into local District Attorney races that are usually quiet. He wants to elect radical prosecutors who won’t follow the law.
“Law-abiding citizens saw the real-life consequences of what happens when elected officials embrace pro-criminal, revolving-door policies and make decisions that put the interests of violent offenders ahead of public safety,” Yoes said.
The Democrats’ war on law enforcement has led to more bad news like this.
Last year, the most police officers were killed on the job since 1995.
The defund the police movement that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez started has hurt police officers and working class Americans in general.
