Image is everything in politics. And it may just be over for one politicians.

Because a Congresswoman got mercilessly mocked after a humiliating video was uncovered.

Crockett’s Cringe-Worthy Rap Endorsement Sparks Backlash

Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett teamed up with Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist for a bizarre TikTok campaign video, where the two awkwardly lip-sync a mashup of a 1990s rock anthem and explicit Nicki Minaj lyrics to hype his bid for governor.

The clip opens with Gilchrist facing the camera, Crockett barely peeking over his shoulder, as on-screen text boasts, “POV you’re about to elect Michigan’s first Black governor.”

“And so I wake in the morning and I step outside. And I take a deep breath and I get real high. And I scream from the top of my lungs,” Gilchrist mouths along to 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up,” before the camera whips around to reveal Crockett launching into a frantic Nicki Minaj impression.

“Bit**es ain’t sh** and they ain’t sayin’ nothin’, A hundred mothafu**ers can’t tell me nothin’, I beez in the trap, be-beez in the trap, I beez in the trap, be-beez in the trap,” she raps while dancing.

Conservatives Torch the “Embarrassing” Stunt

The video instantly drew mockery and disbelief from across the political spectrum.

“Idiocracy was a documentary,” quipped New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino.

Conservative filmmaker Robby Starbuck wondered aloud, “Can you imagine our founders watching this …”

Michigan radio host Justin Barclay questioned Gilchrist’s judgment: “If one were seriously running for governor in Michigan, Jasmine Crockett wouldn’t be on your list to work with.”

Newsmax contributor David Harris Jr. highlighted the closing line: “Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist just released this ridiculous gubernatorial campaign video featuring a sitting member of Congress. Gilchrist says: ‘Take it from Jasmine Crockett, Trump can’t tell me nothin’.’”

Timing and Political Context Raise More Eyebrows

The video dropped just over two weeks after the White House itself posted a nearly identical TikTok using the same 4 Non Blondes/Nicki Minaj mashup.

Gilchrist hosted a Detroit fundraiser featuring Crockett over the weekend and has also secured the endorsement of far-left Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).

He remains the only candidate in Michigan’s crowded Democratic primary to label Israel’s actions in Gaza an active “genocide.”
