The Left have made it clear. They aren’t fans of Christianity.
And Gavin Newsom went after Christians with this appalling social media post.
California Governor Gavin Newsom just can’t seem to stay out of the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. This time, he’s catching heat from online patriots for dodging the word “Christmas” in his social media post about the state’s tree lighting ceremony.
In a tweet posted on Wednesday, Newsom shared a video from the California State Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony. But instead of embracing the spirit of the season, he opted for the generic greeting that has conservatives rolling their eyes.
“Happy Holidays, California!… Wishing all Californians a bright and cheerful holiday season,” Newsom’s X post said.
Happy Holidays, California! 🎄
Big thank you to Rebecca and Jude for lighting up the State Capitol on our 94th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.

That’s right—no mention of Christmas in the written words, even though the event is all about kicking off the holiday that celebrates the birth of Christ.
Newsom and his wife Jennifer even brought out a pair of five-year-old twins from Altadena to flip the switch. In the clip, you can actually hear the governor said “Merry Christmas” to the crowd.
But the second he sat down to type the tweet? Poof. Christmas erased. Cowardice activated.
Internet patriots smelled the weakness immediately and tore him apart.
“I don’t trust anyone who says ‘Happy Holiday’s’,” one savage reply read. Another fired off, “It’s Christmas, you filthy animal!”
The memes were even better. One viral edit shows Newsom and Nancy Pelosi posing in front of a fiery Los Angeles with letters screaming “Happy Holidays” at the top.
This is the same Gavin Newsom who, just last week, went viral for sitting in an awkward post while on stage at the New York Times Dealbook Summit.
The man can’t even sit normally, and now he can’t even type the word Christmas in an X post.
Let’s be crystal clear: nobody is confused about what holiday involves a giant lighted tree in December. It’s not Kwanzaa. It’s not Hanukkah. It’s not “Winter Solstice.” It’s Christmas.
Yet here’s California’s governor, terrified that typing some extra letters might cost him a single vote in San Francisco. Pathetic.
This isn’t about being “inclusive.” It’s about cowardice. It’s about a ruling class that’s embarrassed by the faith and traditions that America was built on.
