House Democrats are gearing up for another spectacle, announcing a special hearing to commemorate the five-year mark of the January 6, 2021, events at the Capitol. Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries made the announcement on Monday, setting the stage for what looks like yet another attempt to stoke old flames against President Trump and his supporters.
This gathering is slated for January 6, 2026, kicking off at 10 a.m., where they’ll dwell on the so-called “horrors of January 6th” and scrutinize what they claim are “ongoing threats to free and fair elections” coming from the Trump White House.
It’s clear this isn’t about unity or moving forward—it’s about keeping the narrative alive to bash the president and his administration.
In his letter to fellow Democrats, Jeffries declared, “We must never forget the horrors of January 6th and will continue to honor the brave law enforcement officers who were injured and lost their lives defending the rule of law in the United States.”
Steering this show will be Rep. Bennie Thompson from Mississippi, the guy who once chaired the now-defunct House Select Committee on January 6. He’s back at it, ready to rehash the same tired talking points that many Americans have long since tuned out.
Meanwhile, over in MAGA circles, there’s been some pushback against Attorney General Pam Bondi. A handful of influencers stirred up noise last week, demanding she go after members of that old January 6 Committee.
That internal squabble even drew a sharp rebuke from Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon, who blasted those critics as “h*es.”
On his very first day back in the Oval Office, President Trump took bold action, issuing sweeping clemency to almost 1,600 folks tied to the Capitol events.
This move freed patriots who were caught in the crosshairs of a weaponized justice system, showing Trump’s commitment to correcting the injustices of the Biden era.
But Jeffries couldn’t resist twisting the knife, claiming in his letter, “A troubling number of the criminals pardoned by Donald Trump have been arrested for child m*lestation, s*xual assault and kidnapping.”
Jeffries went on to slam “far-right Republicans in Congress,” accusing them of trying “to rewrite history and whitewash the events of January 6th.”
He praised the response that day, stating, “As a result of the extraordinary bravery of the men and women of the U.S. Capitol Police and other law enforcement professionals, the treacherous effort to prevent certification of the results of the 2020 presidential election failed.”
Jeffries added, “However, the cost was profound. More than 140 heroic police officers were seriously injured and many suffered lasting physical and psychological trauma.”
The Democrat leader is even urging his colleagues to trot out their personal tales from that day during the hearing.
This whole stunt smells like desperation from a party that’s lost touch with everyday Americans.
With Trump back in charge, pushing policies that put our country first, Democrats are clinging to January 6 like a lifeline to rally their base.
This hearing might grab headlines, but it won’t change the fact that America is waking up to the establishment’s games.
