All hell broke loose in Congress after this Rep. was charged with dangerous crime

Rep. Victoria Spartz

Politicians want you to think that they’re always strict followers of the law. But that’s not always the case.

And all hell broke loose in Congress after this Rep. was charged with a dangerous crime.

Legislators in Washington, D.C. seem to involve themselves in controversy more and more these days.

And while some lawmakers toe the line of breaking the law, others will just straight up commit a crime.

That’s exactly what happened to this congresswoman late last week.

GOP Rep. Smacked with Weapons Charge

Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) faced a weapons violation charge after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at Dulles International Airport (IAD) discovered a firearm in her carry-on luggage.

Spartz, originally from Ukraine, was charged on Friday with violating Virginia’s law that bans carrying weapons in airport terminals. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) to Breitbart News.

According to Virginia law § 18.2-287.01, it is “unlawful for any person to possess or transport into any air carrier airport terminal in the Commonwealth any (i) gun or other weapon designed or intended to propel a missile or projectile of any kind, (ii) frame, receiver, muffler, silencer, missile, projectile or ammunition designed for use with a dangerous weapon, and (iii) any other dangerous weapon, including explosives,” and “stun weapons.”

A spokesperson for the TSA also confirmed to Breitbart News that “officers at IAD detected a .380 caliber firearm during passenger security screening.”

“The firearm was unloaded and in the individual’s carry-on bag,” the TSA spokesperson added, noting that the TSA “does not confirm the name of passengers.”

The TSA spokesperson provided additional information, stating that “passengers may travel with a firearm,” but it must be “secured in the passenger’s checked baggage,” “packed unloaded,” “locked in a hard-sided case,” and “declared to the airline when checking the bag at the ticket counter.”

In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), WRTV Indianapolis revealed an image – released by TSA – of the firearm that Spartz was carrying.

“The TSA has released an image of the gun Rep. Victoria Spartz was carrying as she was stopped by security at Dulles Airport in Washington D.C.,” the post said.

In a statement to the New York Post, Spartz’s office clarified the incident, saying, “Last Friday, Rep. Spartz accidentally carried an empty handgun in her suitcase with no magazine or bullets, which she did not realize was in the pocket of her suitcase while going through security at Dulles airport.”

Rep. Spartz has been serving Indiana’s Fifth Congressional District since 2021.

In May, she won the Republican primary as she aims for another term in Congress, according to reports from The Hill.

Spartz was reached out to for a comment by Breitbart News, but they didn’t receive a response by the time their report was published.
