At the heights of government, you can’t afford to mess up this bad. But now it is a living nightmare for the Senate Minority Leader.
And now Chuck Schumer is shaking his head in humiliation after this major mistake.
An aide to New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams was none too pleased after their email address ended up in the inboxes of countless Trump supporters, thanks to a blunder by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s office.
The chaos began on Friday when President Trump announced a last-minute change to hold his inauguration indoors, forcing a scramble to adjust plans.
Schumer’s office quickly sent an email to his inauguration invite list, informing recipients that their original tickets wouldn’t grant access to the new indoor venue.
Instead, the tickets could still be picked up as souvenirs at the Hart Senate Office Building or mailed to attendees who wanted a keepsake.
But there was one glaring problem—Schumer’s team forgot to use the “BCC” (blind carbon copy) feature, exposing hundreds of email addresses to everyone on the list.
What followed was an epic “Reply All” fiasco that lasted all weekend.
Trump supporters were quick to flood the thread with comments. Some joked that the gaffe would cost someone their job, while others quipped that it would be Schumer himself who gets “voted out.”
As the email chain spiraled out of control, it took an unexpected turn.
One participant started searching for a date, prompting a mom to reply offering her two daughters to a man who asked if “anyone was a Jewish 20- or 30-something” and added, “better if they like pickleball.”
By Wednesday, after dozens of emails had piled up, an aide for Adams had reached their breaking point.
The frustrated staffer fired off a stern message to Schumer’s office, asking, “Please tell me why am I on a group email? Is there any reason why this mail was not BCC? Now you are exposing individuals’ mailing addresses in a group.”
The aide didn’t hold back, adding, “In my opinion. This is inappropriate. I am surprised discretion was not used here.”
But in an ironic twist, the aide also hit “Reply All,” only fueling the already chaotic chain.
One Trump supporter seized the moment to take another jab at Democrats: “We Republicans are grateful to connect with other Republicans … But yes it was a huge flaw again by a Democrat. Everything they do is a failure. Thanks for proving it to all of us.”
When asked about the mix-up, Schumer spokesperson Angelo Roefaro offered an apology, saying, “We are sorry for any CConfusion, as it was an aCCident.”
As it turns out, the people on the list had secured their tickets by entering a lottery. But instead of a smooth process, they got a weekend of inbox mayhem—and plenty of laughs at Schumer’s expense.
