Democrats are actively trying to ruin this country. That’s basically their goal once they get to office.
And a Democrat candidate promises to destroy this state with the flick of a switch.
In the heated race for Virginia’s next governor, Democratic candidate Abigail Spanberger has started an intense debate with an insane pledge: if elected, she will dismantle Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s executive order on immigration enforcement, a move she frames as a defense of local resources and community trust. Her stance, outlined in a recent Virginia Mercury interview, has drawn sharp criticism from opponents who warn it could turn Virginia into a haven for illegal aliens.
Youngkin’s February 2025 executive order requires Virginia State Police and the Department of Corrections to form “Section 287(g) partnerships” with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), enabling state and local authorities to assist in identifying and detaining undocumented immigrants.
It also mandates that the “Secretary of Public Safety & Homeland Security” secure commitments from local jail officials to fully cooperate with ICE. Spanberger, a former CIA officer and congresswoman, argues this approach misallocates resources and erodes public safety.
The “immigration system is absolutely broken,” Spanberger told the Virginia Mercury, emphasizing that pulling “local police officers or local sheriff’s deputies” from duties like community policing or investigating serious crimes to focus on immigration enforcement is inefficient.
“The idea that we would take [them] amid all the things that they have to do… so that they can go and tear families apart… that is a misuse of those resources,” she said. She insists that immigration cases should follow the same legal standards as other criminal matters, requiring warrants and judicial oversight.
“They have to have a warrant to pick somebody up off the street, so they meet that same standard,” Spanberger explained. “And they can easily go get that detention order signed by a judge or a magistrate, if they want that local support.”
Without such checks, she argues, local-ICE collaboration risks undermining community trust, raising constitutional issues, and straining budgets.
She cited Prince William County’s experience, where a prior ICE partnership cost over $1 million to house detainees, as evidence of the financial toll.
The numbers add fuel to the debate. By July’s end, ICE had detained roughly 4,179 migrants in Virginia, per Breitbart News, while Youngkin’s task force reported 3,564 arrests.
In a fiery X post, Youngkin contrasted his approach with Spanberger’s: “In her very first act as governor, @SpanbergerForVA promises to turn Virginia into a sanctuary state for dangerous illegal immigrants. @winwithwinsome promises to keep dangerous criminals off our streets. Could the choice be any more clear, Virginia?”

Republican candidate Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, a Jamaican immigrant, has leaned into her personal story to champion Youngkin’s tough stance. Her campaign will likely cast Spanberger’s plan as reckless, with some critics amplifying the rhetoric.
“Illegals first. Virginians last,” wrote Christian Martinez, a National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson, on X.

Another user likened Spanberger’s position to “radical” progressive policies elsewhere, urging Virginia voters to “wake up.”
As the November election looms, Spanberger’s pledge to reverse Youngkin’s immigration policy has become a terrifying prospect for Virginians who want to combat illegal immigration.
With Virginia’s safety and identity on the line, voters face a choice that could determine the state’s future.
