Donald Trump is breaking the minds of Leftists. They’re starting to say things about him that you’d never expect.

And a Democrat mayor just made on admission about Trump that will surprise you.

Washington, DC Experiences Crime Drop After Federal Law Enforcement Surge

In a stunning turnaround, Washington, DC, has seen a dramatic reduction in crime since President Trump deployed federal law enforcement to the city’s streets several weeks ago. At a press conference, Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser shared fresh data revealing an 87% drop in carjackings compared to the same period in 2024, alongside declines across all crime categories.

“The federal surge has had a significant [decrease] on crime in Washington, DC, and we greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what [DC’s Metropolitan Police Department] has been able to do in this city,” Bowser declared, presenting the latest crime statistics.

Significant Declines in Violent and Property Crimes

From August 7 to August 27, overall crime in the District fell by 15% compared to the same 20-day period last year. Violent crime took an even steeper dive, dropping 45%, per Bowser.

Bowser highlighted the plummeting carjacking rate as “the most significant thing” in the data, with just four incidents reported during the federal operation, down from 31 in August 2024.

Carjackings had been a persistent issue in DC, rising annually from 2018 to a peak of 959 cases in 2023, when victims included an FBI agent, a United Arab Emirates diplomat, and Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas). Last year’s 496 carjackings, while lower, were still triple the number from 2018.

The data also showed significant declines in other areas: homicides dropped 38%, s*x abuse cases fell 44%, and robberies plummeted 62%, from 119 to 45 cases.

Property crimes decreased by 12%, with burglaries down 47% and car thefts reduced by 35%. The DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported a 20% increase in arrests and a 12% rise in firearm recoveries compared to August of last year.

Boost in Police Activity and Federal Presence

The federal intervention, sparked by high-profile crimes targeting public officials, brought hundreds of agents from the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Homeland Security, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to the capital. Their presence has reshaped the city’s safety landscape in just three weeks.

Beyond crime, Bowser announced a planned census of DC’s homeless population to count tents, their occupants, and unsheltered individuals.

Since Trump initiated his federal crackdown on DC crime, 81 individuals have entered homeless shelters, Bowser noted.

However, Bowser raised concerns about certain federal tactics. Her “situational update” presentation flagged “masked ICE agents” and “National Guard from other states” as problematic, urging federal partners to “build more trust” with residents to sustain progress.

As DC navigates this intensified law enforcement presence, the decline in crime offers hope and proves that Donald Trump’s plan to clean up the nation’s capital is indeed working.
