Newsom is one of Donald Trump’s biggest enemies. He wants nothing more than for the president-elect to fail.
And Gavin Newsom has created a dirty scheme to help destroy the new Trump administration.
California Plans to Shield Migrants from Deportation as Trump Presidency Looms
As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to assume office, Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom’s administration is developing strategies to protect illegal migrants from deportation.
According to an internal memo obtained by Politico, the plan involves creating an “Immigrant Support Network” featuring regional hubs designed to connect at-risk individuals and their families with local systems such as legal services, schools, labor unions, and governments.
Although specific details remain sparse, Politico reports that the hubs would aim to provide resources for migrants facing deportation, facilitate information sharing, and improve coordination of state policies to counteract Trump’s deportation agenda.
The cost to taxpayers and the logistical framework for implementing the program are not yet outlined.
Scott Murray, a spokesperson for California’s Department of Social Services, confirmed to the New York Post that the document is a “preliminary” draft meant for internal deliberation.
“It is not a final proposal,” he added. A spokesperson for Governor Newsom’s office also clarified that the memo has not been reviewed by the governor himself.
According to Politico, the Department of Social Services is still evaluating interest in the program and assessing potential timelines for its rollout.
The outlet also explains that if approved, the plan is expected to be officially announced in mid-January.
The proposed initiative comes on the heels of Newsom’s emergency request for $25 million in funding to prepare for anticipated legal battles with the incoming federal administration.
Earlier this month, the governor convened a special session of the California Legislature to secure the budget allocation, which his office says will help safeguard funding for disaster relief, healthcare, and other essential services during Trump’s presidency.
Politico also reports that in addition, Democratic Senate Budget Chairman Scott Wiener has introduced legislation proposing $60 million for an “immigrant detention representation and coordination program.”
It is currently unclear whether these funds could also support the Immigrant Support Network outlined in the memo.
President-elect Trump, 78, has pledged to initiate the largest deportation operation in U.S. history on his first day in office.
California’s moves signal a determined effort to counter those plans and provide resources to its immigrant communities.
And in turn, Gavin Newsom will basically be helping illegal migrants get away with crossing the border illegally.
That will also simply encourage more migrants to do the same in the future, despite Donald Trump’s pledge to initiate stronger border security in his second term as President.
