Trump Seeks RICO Charges Against Soros Family for Funding Protests
President Donald Trump has issued a demand for legal action against billionaire George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, accusing them of bankrolling violent protests across the United States. In a recent Truth Social post, Trump called for the pair to face charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, alleging their financial support has caused significant harm to the nation.
He described the Soros family and “his group of psychopaths” as a destructive force, vowing that his administration would not let them “rip apart America.”
Trump stated, “George Soros, and his Wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America. We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE.”
The RICO Law Explained
The RICO statute, part of the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970, became law on October 15, 1970. Per the Department of Justice’s website, it aims to curb “the infiltration of organized crime and racketeering into legitimate organizations operating in interstate commerce.”
The law targets illegal activities tied to enterprises affecting interstate or foreign commerce, offering a powerful tool to combat organized crime.
Soros’s Financial Ties to Activism
Breitbart News has reported ties between the Soros family’s Open Society Foundations and various activist groups. One such organization, CASA, received substantial funding, including a $250,000 grant in 2023 and $1.6 million for its political action committee, CASA in Action, to promote mass immigration.
CASA recently rallied in support of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an accused MS-13 gang member and illegal alien facing deportation, who also faces allegations of human smuggling, domestic violence, and abuse of women. The group framed him as a victim of Trump’s deportation policies.
Additional Soros-Linked Causes
Other groups linked to the Soros network have also drawn attention. Human Rights First, which received nearly $6.2 million from the Open Society Foundations between 2016 and 2021, has joined lawsuits against the Trump administration to defend illegal aliens with deportation orders.
Additionally, the New York Post reported that since 2016, the Soros family has funneled over $15 million to groups organizing anti-Israel protests following Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
Through the Tides Center, the Open Society Foundations provided $13.7 million to nonprofits, some of which have justified Hamas’s actions. The Tides Center also gave $30,000 in 2020 to Desis Rising Up and Moving, which organized an anti-Israel protest in New York City’s Bryant Park.
