Hillary Clinton’s new insult of Trump supporters has them red with rage

The former presidential candidate is still bitter after her 2016 loss. She’s decided to go on an all out assault on those who back Donald Trump.

And Hillary Clinton’s new insult of Trump supporters has them red with rage.

In a reflective op-ed for The Washington Post titled “To Err Is Human, To Empathize Is Superhuman,” Hillary Clinton revisits the insulting phrase she once used to describe some of Donald Trump’s supporters.

While she initially apologized for the 2016 “basket of deplorables” comment, she now believes it offered a valuable insight into what she oddly believes is a troubling segment of American society.

Clinton’s latest piece is centered on her struggle to empathize with what she calls “radicalized individuals,” many of whom were part of the group she famously targeted during her 2016 presidential campaign. At the time, she described half of Trump’s supporters as deplorable, citing their attraction to Donald Trump’s so-called divisive rhetoric and policies.

“In 2016, I famously described half of Trump’s supporters as ‘the basket of deplorables.’ I was talking about the people who are drawn to his racism, s*xism, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia — you name it. The people for whom his bigotry is a feature, not a bug. It was an unfortunate choice of words and bad politics, but it also got at an important truth. Just look at everything that has happened in the years since, from Charlottesville to Jan. 6,” Clinton wrote in the op-ed.

However, in light of recent events, she suggests that even the word “deplorable” might no longer be strong enough. Clinton remarked, “The masks have come off, and if anything, ‘deplorable’ is too kind a word for the hate and violent extremism we’ve seen from some Trump supporters.”

Clinton contrasts her reflections with a more hopeful example, drawing on her experiences with Shannon Foley, a former White supremacist who now dedicates her life to helping others leave hate groups. Foley’s empathy towards even the most radicalized individuals left a lasting impression on Clinton. She wonders whether that same level of compassion could be a pathway to healing the deep divisions in the United States.

“I marveled at the empathy Shannon managed to summon for even the most (yes, let’s say it) deplorable bigots,” Clinton noted. She goes on to ask, “What will it take to pull us out of the madness? Is there any way to drain the fever swamps so we can stand together on firmer, higher ground?”

While Clinton still believes some of her original comments held “objective truth,” particularly in the context of the January 6th Capitol insurrection, she also expresses a desire to approach these issues with a more empathetic view.

Reflecting on her controversial statement, she writes, “Talking about the ‘deplorables’ in 2016, I said, ‘Some of those folks, they are irredeemable.’ Part of me would still say this is objectively true. Just look at the lack of remorse from many of the Jan. 6 insurrectionists who’ve been convicted of sedition and other crimes. But another part of me wants to believe something else. I’d like to believe there’s goodness in everyone and a chance at redemption, no matter how remote.”

In her original remarks in 2016, Clinton infamously declared, “You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, s*xist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it. And unfortunately, there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

The day after making this statement, Clinton expressed regret for generalizing but doubled down on her criticism of Trump and his association with divisive figures. “I regret saying ‘half’ – that was wrong. But let’s be clear, what’s really ‘deplorable’ is that Donald Trump hired a major advocate for the so-called ‘alt-right’ movement to run his campaign and that David Duke and other White supremacists see him as a champion of their values,” she said.

Clinton’s Words Of Remorse Fall Flat

Hillary Clinton simply can’t say she feels empathetic for those she calls “deplorable” while at the same time doubling down on referring to them as such.

She also can’t imply that they’re irredeemable while also hoping they can be changed by her because of her so-called empathy.

Its obvious that the former first lady feels nothing but hatred towards those who support former President Donald Trump. She’s made comments like her “deplorables” one before. Just recently she called for Trump supporters to undergo a formal deprogramming:

Does that sound like anyone who wants to be empathetic?
