ICE chief accuses Democrats of treasonous crimes

The Democrats have sunk to a new low. Their extremism has simply gone too far this time.

As an ICE chief has now accused Democrats of committing treasonous crimes against law and order.

Democrats’ Defiance of Law and Order Fuels Chaos

The 2024 election delivered a clear message: Americans demand secure borders and robust law enforcement. Yet, Democrats seem deaf to this call, doubling down on policies that obstruct federal agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Former ICE acting director Jonathan Fahey, in a scathing critique, accused Democrats of learning nothing from their electoral losses and instead working tirelessly to undermine immigration enforcement.

“They’re doing everything they can to impede and obstruct any ICE enforcement,” Fahey said during an appearance on Tennessee GOP Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s “Unmuted” podcast, shared first with the Daily Caller News Foundation. His remarks highlight a growing frustration with Democrats’ apparent refusal to support basic law and order, choosing instead to disrupt federal efforts at every turn.

Fahey, who led ICE during the final days of Trump’s first term, pointed to the Democrats’ post-election behavior as evidence of their misguided priorities. “And it’s funny that you look at the last election and you think one of the lessons they could have learned was to moderate their open border position, but in fact, it seems like they doubled down on that open borders position,” he continued. This defiance, he argued, stems from a calculated political strategy rather than a commitment to public safety.

The former ICE chief minced no words, accusing Democrats of “defaming law enforcement, which is almost like a standard practice of the Democratic Party, unfortunately.” This rhetoric, paired with actions like sanctuary laws and anti-ICE protests, paints a picture of a party more interested in political posturing than protecting communities. Fahey’s comments resonate with those who see Democrats’ obstruction as a direct threat to national security.

President Donald Trump’s return to office came with a mandate to address the border crisis through the largest deportation operation in U.S. history. His administration has made remarkable progress, with Customs and Border Protection reporting zero illegal migrants released into the country in May 2025, compared to 62,000 the previous year under Biden. ICE is also closing in on its goal of 3,000 daily arrests, currently averaging over 2,000.

Yet, Democrats have met these achievements with fierce resistance. Major cities under Democratic control, like Los Angeles and New York, have reinforced sanctuary policies, shielding criminal illegal migrants from federal authorities. Los Angeles, in particular, descended into chaos with anti-deportation riots costing over $20 million in damages, a stark testament to the consequences of Democratic inaction.

While Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Gov. Gavin Newsom publicly clashed with Trump over the violence, other Democratic leaders have taken their opposition to alarming extremes. In Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested in May 2025 after attempting to force entry into an ICE detention facility alongside congressional lawmakers. Though his trespassing charge was dropped, Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver faced two counts of assaulting officers during the same incident.

In New York City, Comptroller Brad Lander, a mayoral candidate, was detained in June 2025 after allegedly assaulting ICE agents attempting to apprehend an individual at immigration court. These physical confrontations between Democratic officials and federal law enforcement reveal a troubling willingness to prioritize political stances over the rule of law.

Fahey expressed confidence that most Americans support deporting dangerous criminals, stating, “I haven’t seen polling on it, but I would expect 95% of the American people would support deporting gang members.” He criticized Democrats for opposing such commonsense measures, suggesting their actions are driven by a desire to secure future voters through mass immigration.

“But unfortunately, the Democratic Party has really doubled down on the mass immigration, open borders, and we all know it’s for political purposes because they see these as future voters, and they say a lot that they always talk about a path of citizenship,” Fahey told Blackburn.

A glaring example of this mindset emerged with the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a suspected MS-13 gang member and accused domestic abuser involved in a migrant smuggling operation. When the Trump administration deported him, Democrats, led by Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen, traveled to El Salvador to demand his return to the U.S. to face smuggling charges, a move that critics argue prioritizes optics over justice.

Fahey lamented this shift in Democratic values, noting, “And I think at some point the Democratic Party sort of shifted from sort of being supportive [of the working people] and they traded them for the identity politics and illegal immigration, thinking that would be a longer-term benefit.” He warned that this strategy leaves communities vulnerable, as Democrats cling to policies that erode public safety.

The anti-ICE demonstrations sweeping Democrat-run cities further demonstrate this disconnect. From Los Angeles to New York, activists and lawmakers alike have rallied against deportations, often vilifying ICE agents as they work to remove dangerous individuals. These protests, coupled with sanctuary laws, create a hostile environment for federal officers tasked with upholding immigration laws.
