Joe isn’t controlling the White House anymore. But it doesn’t mean he can’t still do some damage.
And now an incriminating video of Joe Biden surfaces that is taking down the Democrat Party.
President Biden once promised a starkly different approach to the justice system, vowing not to issue preemptive pardons as he contrasted his presidency with that of Donald Trump.
In December 2020, during an interview with CNN anchor Jake Tapper, Biden expressed his concerns about rumors that then-President Trump might grant a wave of preemptive pardons to his closest allies.
“Well, it concerns me in terms of what kind of precedent it sets in how the rest of the world looks at us as a nation of laws and justice,” Biden said.
He went further, emphasizing how his administration would break from what he described as Trump’s controversial practices.
“You’re not going to see in our administration that kind of approach to pardons,” Biden said.
“Nor are you going to see in our administration the approach to making policy by tweets. You know, it’s going to be a totally different way in which we approach the justice system.”
However, as Biden’s term came to a close, his actions appear to have diverged from his earlier statements. On Monday, Biden announced a series of preemptive pardons, a decision that has sparked significant backlash and debate.
Among those pardoned were Dr. Anthony Fauci, retired Gen. Mark Milley, and staff members of the now-disbanded House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.
These pardons, which came just hours before Biden left office, have become some of the most controversial acts of his presidency.
Adding to the controversy, news broke Monday morning that Biden had also issued pardons for five members of his family, including his son, Hunter Biden.
This follows the president’s earlier pardon of Hunter last month, a move that had already drawn fierce criticism from Republicans.
Biden hinted at the possibility of such pardons in an interview with *USA Today* weeks earlier, but their breadth and timing have caught many by surprise. Critics argue that these actions undercut the promises of transparency and accountability Biden made early in his presidency.
Republicans have called for investigations into the pardons, with some accusing Biden of abusing his authority to shield political allies and family members.
Incoming President Trump, who has faced criticism for his own pardons during his previous term, notably granted clemency to figures like Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn—both of whom were charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) at the time.
In contrast, Biden’s preemptive pardons were issued before any formal charges or investigations in some cases, raising additional questions.
While Biden’s actions have drawn sharp criticism, preemptive pardons are not without precedent. Former President Gerald Ford famously pardoned Richard Nixon after the Watergate scandal, a move that remains one of the most debated decisions in American political history.
As Biden departs the White House, his late-term pardons will likely remain a contentious issue, fueling ongoing debates about the limits of presidential power and the role of pardons in the American justice system.
