Harris is full of terrible ideas. She plans to implement them all if she wins the presidency.
And Kamala Harris has made a policy proposal that could have devastating consequences for Americans.
Despite facing the possibility of leading a country with a Republican-controlled Congress, Vice President Kamala Harris remains resolute on her stance regarding abortion policy. Harris has made it clear that she refuses to make any concessions on this issue, which she views as a fundamental right.
In an interview with NBC News’ Hallie Jackson, Harris emphasized her commitment to protecting abortion rights. “I don’t think we should be making concessions when we’re talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body,” she stated, firmly underscoring her position.
Jackson pressed Harris on the challenges she might face in advancing abortion access in a Republican-controlled Congress, even suggesting the possibility of offering a religious exemption to gain bipartisan support.
However, Harris was unwavering. “If in fact, Republicans control Congress, would you offer them an olive branch, or is that off the table? Is that not an option for you?” Jackson asked.
Harris, without hesitation, rejected the idea of compromising on the issue, responding that she wouldn’t “engage in hypotheticals” but instead pointed to what she called “a fundamental fact.”
She continued, “A basic freedom has been taken from the women of America, the freedom to make decisions about their own body, and that cannot be negotiable.”
As Jackson tried once more to explore the vice president’s strategy for reinstating federal abortion rights without a Democratic majority, Harris sidestepped a direct response.
The anchor pressed on, “It’s a question that’s out there because it’s not a guarantee that Democrats will win control of Congress.”
However, Harris declined to map out a concrete plan, opting instead to reiterate that abortion access is “non-negotiable.”
She did not address the prospect of eliminating the filibuster to push federal abortion rights legislation through the Senate, nor did she offer specifics on codifying the precedent set by Roe v. Wade.
Abortion has become a central focus of Harris’ presidential campaign. However, her refusal to consider compromises has drawn criticism from conservatives, particularly among anti-abortion groups and religious communities.
Concerns have been raised about how her hardline stance might impact religiously affiliated medical facilities.
In her remarks, Harris has also blamed former President Donald Trump for the loss of federal abortion protections, highlighting his role in appointing conservative judges to the Supreme Court, which led to the 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade.
This decision paved the way for many red states to enact near-total abortion bans.
Meanwhile, Trump has distanced himself from calls for a federal abortion ban, maintaining that the issue should be decided by individual states.
He has indicated that he would veto any federal abortion ban that reached his desk, positioning himself as a more moderate voice on the issue within the GOP.
As the debate over abortion rights intensifies, Kamala Harris has proven that she doesn’t support any restrictions regarding abortion. This is of course an extremist view that she wants to pretend is completely rational.
