Leftist senator utters a statement that will have Democrats steaming mad

Democrats are a party that’s full of infighting. It doesn’t look like that’ll stop anytime soon.

And a leftist senator uttered a statement that will have Democrats steaming mad.

In a refreshing break from the usual Washington script, Saturday night’s edition of Fox News Channel’s “Life, Liberty & Levin” delivered something genuine from the other side of the aisle.

Senator John Fetterman, the Democrat from Pennsylvania, made clear he harbors zero remorse for splitting with most of his colleagues over rock-solid American backing for Israel and its people.

While radical elements in his party increasingly cozy up to voices that excuse terror, Fetterman drew a firm line in favor of the Jewish state and the policies that defend it.

He boiled his position down to one straightforward principle that puts decency first, no matter the political fallout.

Host Mark Levin, a Pennsylvania native who knows the state’s working roots inside out, opened the conversation by sizing up exactly why Fetterman feels different from the pack.

“We’re here with Senator John Fetterman,” Levin stated. “This is my first interview with the senator, and he’s a very nice man. We spoke briefly, and I appreciate you coming, Senator. I’m from Pennsylvania. I love Pennsylvania.”

“It’s a great state, and you’re kind of the person — the kind of person that usually has represented Pennsylvania, that is, somebody that is not hard left, somebody that is not necessarily on the right, sort of a representative of kind of blue collar America. Do I have that about right?”

Fetterman did not dodge the characterization for one second.

“Yes, I think so. I mean, I don’t know if it’s whether I’m a moderate, but I would just — I really follow what I think is really true. You know, I never really cared you know, whatever side that is, I’ll follow, like a moral clarity,” the senator said.

“And, you know, there’s been a fracturing between me and my party with, primarily, it’s been Israel, and now, that’s why I think we originally spoke about, and here we are right now with Epic Fury.”

“I am the only Democrat that actually supported these kinds of — so that might isolate me politically, but I’ve had no regrets, because I’ve always felt that’s the moral clarity, and I never checked, you know whatever politics are behind it.”

By laying out the split so plainly, Fetterman shone a light on how disconnected the current Democrat machine has grown from basic common sense.

The party that once spoke for factory workers and Main Street families now bends to activist pressure that treats Israel like the villain in every conflict.

Fetterman stands virtually alone in his caucus for refusing to play along with that dangerous game.
