The GOP controlled Senate is delivering for the American people. They’re doing it at the corrupt federal government’s expense.
And Deep State bureaucrats are scared beyond belief by what the U.S. Senate just did.
Linda McMahon Confirmed as U.S. Secretary of Education in Party-Line Senate Vote
In a decisive move on Monday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Linda McMahon as the new Secretary of the Department of Education. The vote, split sharply along party lines at 51-45, solidified McMahon’s appointment after a lengthy deliberation following her confirmation hearing. Last month, the Senate HELP Committee narrowly approved her nomination with a 12-11 tally, setting the stage for this week’s full Senate decision.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) championed McMahon’s confirmation, praising her extensive track record. “Mrs. McMahon is an accomplished businesswoman and public servant. She’s known for her role in building World Wrestling Entertainment — better known as WWE — from a small operation to a large and thriving enterprise, and she has used her success to give back and make a positive impact,” Thune said before the vote.
He highlighted her contributions beyond the wrestling ring, noting, “Mrs. McMahon led efforts to promote reading and civic engagement through WWE. She spent 16 years on the board of trustees for Sacred Heart University in her home state of Connecticut. She served on the Connecticut Board of Education, and in his first term, President Trump tapped Linda McMahon to lead the Small Business Administration, where she was known for listening to small businesses to make the SBA a more effective agency.”
Thune expressed confidence that McMahon would bring “valuable experience, an incredible work ethic and a passion for education” to her leadership of the Department of Education.
McMahon’s confirmation hearing in February unfolded with a surprising degree of civility, as she laid out her vision for the department’s future—or lack thereof. She emphasized winding down the Department of Education while keeping students and parents at the forefront and amplifying school choice.
Addressing concerns about funding, McMahon reassured senators that the Trump administration has no intention of slashing school budgets set by Congress. Instead, she proposed transferring the department’s essential responsibilities to other federal agencies.
Drawing from her diverse background, McMahon told the committee, “put parents, teachers, and students — not bureaucracy — first.”
She reflected on her time as co-founder and former CEO of WWE, her leadership of the Small Business Administration, and her roles in Connecticut’s education system, asserting that these experiences shaped her student-centered approach.
“Outstanding teachers are tired of political ideology in their curriculum and red tape on their desks,” she said during the hearing. “And that’s why school choice is a growing movement across the nation. It offers teachers and parents an alternative to classrooms that are micromanaged from Washington, DC.”
Following her confirmation, McMahon released a statement thanking President Donald Trump and outlining her priorities. “I am deeply grateful to President Trump for his trust in me to serve in his Cabinet as Secretary of Education. I am prepared to lead the Department in this transformational time and embrace the challenge to improve the education system for the more than 100 million children and college students who deserve better,” she said.
McMahon pledged to steer the department toward “advancing education freedom, not building up government-run systems,” adding, “We will empower states and districts to have more say in what is working on the ground for students instead of bureaucratic edicts from Washington, D.C. President Trump pledged to make American education the best in the world, return education to the states where it belongs, and free American students from the education bureaucracy through school choice. I intend to make good on that promise.”
The Department of Education has already begun shifting gears under President Trump’s directive, curbing excessive spending, phasing out controversial diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and safeguarding women’s and girls’ sports programs.
Yet, the ultimate goal looms larger: Trump has made no secret of his desire to dismantle the department entirely, a sentiment he reiterated with a playful jab at McMahon, saying he wants her “to put herself out of a job.”
While an executive order to begin this process is expected soon, fully dissolving the department—established 45 years ago under President Jimmy Carter—would require Congressional action.
McMahon steps into her role at a pivotal moment, tasked with reshaping an education system that serves millions while navigating its potential dissolution.
Her confirmation marks not just a personal triumph but a bold step in Trump’s mission to redefine how America educates its future generations.
