The Left can’t help but constantly embarrass themselves. It’s the only thing they’re good at.
And this leading Democrat has egg on his face after this humiliating video of him is posted online.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries recently faced a wave of social media backlash after posting a video in which he claimed that “the American people are with us” in opposing President Trump. The video, filmed outside the Capitol, showed Jeffries standing alone, which many users found ironic and mocked.
In the video posted on X, Jeffries begins by saying, “Just got back to the Capital. Another day, another lie from these people who are out of control,” with the empty east side of the US Capitol lurking in the background.
He continues, “I’m told that Donald Trump, Mike Johnson and the extreme MAGA Republicans are claiming that Democrats are sending paid protesters into their town hall meetings. What’s wrong with y’all? What’s wrong with y’all? We don’t need to send paid protesters into your town hall meetings.”
Jeffries asserts, “The American people are with us. All across the country people are rising up to push back against the assault on the economy, the assault on hardworking families, the assault on our democracy and the assault on Medicaid. We don’t need paid protesters, bro. The American people are with us.”
The post quickly garnered more replies than shares, a phenomenon known as being “ratio’ed” on X. Journalist Yashar Ali commented on the video, questioning the decision to film Jeffries alone in front of the Capitol:
“Which genius decided to film a video where House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries says the American people are with him and his colleagues—while standing completely alone in front of the Capitol?” Ali wrote.
He added, “I’m not saying he needed to film this in front of a massive crowd, but who in his comms or advance team thought it was a good idea to stage this in front of a building full of deeply unpopular politicians instead of going with a tight, controlled shot at his desk?”

A recent Quinnipiac University poll revealed that Democrats’ congressional approval rating had plummeted to an all-time low, with only 21% of voters expressing support for their performance. Even among Democrats, 40% approved of how congressional Democrats were doing their job under President Trump.
Ali further criticized the video, stating, “The vast emptiness around him makes his message feel disconnected from reality — no crowd, no visible support, just Jeffries delivering a supposed show of strength in a setting that unintentionally reinforces the exact opposite.”
Steve Guest, a conservative commentator, claimed Jeffries was “gaslighting” the public, writing on X: “There are literally 0 people with Hakeem Jeffries in this video where he says ‘The American people are with us.’” Another user quipped that Jeffries’ video needed a “crickets sound effect.”
Talk about gaslighting— there are literally 0 people with Hakeem Jeffries in this video where he says “The American people are with us.”

Some argued that the video inadvertently supported Republican claims that protesters at GOP town halls were paid. One post on X read, “Not just bad optics, but what kind of moron messaging reinforces the bogus claim against itself.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) recently claimed that Democrats had shown up early to several GOP town hall events and filled the seats to protest their support of the Trump administration.
“The videos you saw of the town halls were for paid protesters in many of those places,” Johnson told CNN.
