The U.S. isn’t immune to foreign threats. Especially in today’s world.
And a top Republican governor has identified a new threat to American’s way of life.
Greg Abbott has officially designated the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) a foreign terrorist organization, and he’s not stopping there.
The Muslim Brotherhood got the same label. This isn’t political theater – this is Texas drawing a hard line in the sand against groups that have spent time cozying up to Hamas and pushing an agenda that has no place on American soil.
He accused CAIR of direct ties to Hamas and promised his attorney general will “sue to shut them down” in the Lone Star State.
He went straight for the jugular on their real goal. “The Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR have long made their goals clear: to forcibly impose Sharia law and establish Islam’s ‘mastership of the world,’” Abbott said.
The governor made it clear: “The actions taken by the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR to support terrorism across the globe and subvert our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment are unacceptable.”
“These radical extremists are not welcome in our state and are now prohibited from acquiring any real property interest in Texas.”
The federal government may still be asleep at the wheel, but Texas isn’t waiting for permission from D.C. to protect its people.
CAIR’s Texas branch whined that Abbott is defaming them because they’re “effective advocates for justice.”
Let’s be crystal clear: CAIR has spent the last year screeching against Israel’s war on Gaza and cheering on the pro-Hamas protests.
Abbott sees exactly what’s happening. When a pro-Hamas radical like Zohran Mamdani can get elected mayor of New York City, the alarm bells should be deafening.
“The concern is high, especially when you see somebody like Mamdani get elected and the cataclysmic problems that’s going to cause,” Abbott said Tuesday.
“We want to make sure that’s never going to happen” in Texas.
This is what leadership looks like. Abbott is using every tool at his disposal to ban these groups from operating freely in his state.
Texas just sent a message to every jihadist front group in America: if you want to wage civilizational jihad here, you’ll have to get through us first.
The left and the media will call this “extreme.” Let them. The only thing extreme is allowing organizations with documented terrorist ties to operate unchecked while they groom the next generation of America-haters.
Every red-state governor should follow Texas’s lead tomorrow. Designate CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations.
