Tragedy strikes after Trump official is killed

The world is a dangerous place. But no one was prepared to mourn this death.

And tragedy strikes after a Trump official is killed.

Mike Gill, who was a former official in the Donald Trump administration, died Sunday after being shot in Washington, D.C. last Monday.

Gill, who was 56, was shot after being carjacked on K Street Northwest, in D.C.

He was a father to three children and once worked at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) under Trump during his presidency.

Gill wasn’t the only one who was killed in the incident, unfortunately, as another innocent individual also lost their life.

“His sudden departure has left a void in our lives that can never be filled,” Kristina Gill, Mike Gill’s wife, said in a statement.

She also added that he was “not only a devoted husband and father but also a cherished son, brother, and friend.”

Kristina Gill mentioned that her late husband was a dedicated member to his church, served on the District of Columbia Board of Elections, and coached for his daughter’s soccer team.

Christopher Giancarlo, a former chairman for the CFTC, said Gill was “one of the most wonderful, honest, earnest, and open-hearted persons on this earth.”

Artell Cunningham, the 28-year-old shooter, was shot and killed by police the day after the carjacking and shooting of Gill occurred.

Unfortunately, this tragic incident hasn’t been a rare occurrence in the crime-ridden city of Washington, D.C. which is governed by Democrats.

Carjackings have been on the rise and lawmakers have been a target of some of them.

This past October, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) was held at gunpoint while being carjacked.

And in November of last year, Washington, D.C. police revealed that 250 homicides occurred from January to November in 2023.

That’s the largest number of homicides D.C. has seen since 2003.

According to Fox News, 908 carjackings took place during that same time frame of January to November.

77 percent of those carjackings involved the use of firearms, the outlet reports.

Now would be the perfect time for the capitol city of America to crack down on crime so more tragedies like the killing of Mike Gill don’t happen again.
