Donald Trump is already putting the country back on the right track. His “America First” policies are working.
And Trump secured a major victory for the U.S. after twisting the arm of this foreign nation.
In a significant policy development, Venezuela has agreed to accept the return of its violent criminal migrants apprehended in the United States, including members of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang that has been causing chaos in major U.S. cities, President Donald Trump announced.
“We are in the process of removing record numbers of illegal aliens from all countries, and all countries have agreed to accept these illegal aliens back,” Trump stated on Truth Social.
He further confirmed Venezuela’s participation, saying, “Venezuela has agreed to receive, back into their country, all Venezuela illegal aliens who were encamped in the U.S., including gang members of Tren de Aragua.”
This announcement follows a diplomatic meeting between U.S. envoy Richard Grenell and Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. The meeting resulted in Grenell returning to the U.S. with six detained American citizens.
Despite the diplomatic engagement, the Trump administration has emphasized that the visit does not equate to U.S. recognition of Maduro’s regime, nor were any concessions made in exchange for Venezuela’s cooperation.
“The only award for Maduro was my physical presence, the first senior U.S. official to visit the country in years,” Grenell said to the Washington Post. “It was a big gift to him to have a visit by an envoy of President Trump.”
Relations between the U.S. and Venezuela have been fraught with tension, particularly as Maduro’s government had previously blocked deportation flights for nearly a year.
However, this new agreement signals a shift in cooperation, aligning with Trump’s campaign commitment to deport hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens, including those who are criminals.
The Tren de Aragua gang has gained infamy in the U.S., particularly in New York City, where they have been actively recruiting from migrant shelters and running illicit operations involving drugs, firearms, and human trafficking.
Federal agents and the NYPD recently launched back-to-back raids, dealing a major blow to the gang’s activities.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported over 7,200 illegal migrant arrests in just nine days, with deportation efforts continuing to escalate.
In another move to crack down on illegal immigration, the White House announced that up to 30,000 migrants would be relocated to the U.S. naval base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba—a decision that has drawn condemnation from the Cuban government.
The large-scale deportation efforts have met resistance from some Latin American leaders.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum recently refused to accept a planeload of deported Mexican nationals, while Colombian President Gustavo Petro initially resisted but later conceded, agreeing to take back Colombian migrants.
The United States is continuing to deal with the effects of the Biden administrations awful immigration policies. They practically left the southern border wide open which led to a mass influx of illegal aliens.
But this latest agreement with Venezuela marks another step in the Trump administration’s aggressive approach to immigration enforcement and their efforts to reverse the Biden admin’s poor policies to combat immigration.
